re: Homeschooling Schedule Template!

posted 10th Dec
Theyve tested because its a very much legal issue especially in the military to take a child out and possibly be giving him less instead of more on the education he was receiving in public school.
He tested 1st grade coming in a month .
I dont really think I will post his exact numbers to ppl who are seeking something to attack. If it were different...maybe.
I'll just let you be annoyed by that cuzz I bet youll start thinking I either lied about it all...or that he is really on that level or blah blah blah..
at this point..
I want a sandwich

Advocate..why dont you just go do your awesome very studied contest . I will enjoy all the effort put into it! Hell I nom myself lol!!!
And also stop saying I speak gibberish when you just dont understand what it is Im saying. Just because you or another person may not doesnt mean that someone else doesnt.

Seriously I want a sandwich right about now
Keep talking because its only giving me something for entertainment at this point
Youre like a sister. Cant stand you but youre there lol!

I didn't say grade level. I said IQ, but whatever. You guys should enter the young engineers contest in January. You get to build a robot and they start with 4 year olds. Dd is starting on hers soon.

Is this in Ok?
If it is, could we submit and be voted via postage or do we have to actually be there? It sounds like something I'd love to do with him. Actually me and DH can make it a family thing. Is there a theme for the robot...does it need to be able to do a certain thing?
F! im excited. Im a dork...

I just rather leave the numbers out of it because I know there are some who are stalking to have something to say that I am lying about his numbers when its been told to me that ive lied about where hes tested at. I will put things out there but when it comes to ppl being able to get a hold of his IQ and "numbers Id rather keep it to myself and be thought to have lied then have him ripped apart for whatever else reason. Thats why I plan to not post it, but lets just say I am proud. Its just drawing a line somewhere you know? But its not me avoiding it all together because you did bring up a good question no one else has. It just came to late into this whole charade.

My personal opinion is that by sitting him in front of the tv to learn most of the stuff (to make it more 'fun') you are taking the easy way out with his learning. It's easy to stick a movie in and tell them to watch it, it's more difficult to actually sit down with them and teach them the subject, and obviously more time consuming doing hands on activities, but I think it would be more rewarding home schooling that way, and more fun for the child.

Lol'ing at Advocate having her 2cents

Back to this though. I see how it CAN look. I'll explain. We sit and eat popcorn while we watch the movie. We discuss it and I ask him random questions throughout the day. It's not me actually using it as a class but more as an extension to his books and such. The visual is stimulating to the mind and certain things stick alot better with him that way.
Its the only subject he has thats conjunction with a video. We do everything from chores and verbal and written material all day so a little stimulation while learning I think isnt too bad. But I am very hands on with him. I can your view though.

Homeschooling can go sour very quick if you dont have creative outlets or are bad with just keeping with a strict schedule. With us being home we have to be very disciplined to make sure we are not distracted so its a lot more work than fun if done right for the first yr...after that at least while in elementary itll be smooth sailing. Right now we are adjusting accordingly with his progress.
I really cant wait to turn fun though lol! Seriously, when you pull a child out of school and you have got to pretty much break them down to understand what they know and build them back up to a new way of learning...its tiresome! Sometimes i dont go to bed til' 2 because of me always adjusting his curriculum and making sure everything is laid out for the next day as need be and not by whats on the next page.

I'm not changing how anyone feels. Its not my intention to do so. As you feel one thing, I feel the other. Disagreeing doesnt mean its wrong...it just means either one cannot find any way to understand the point of view of another.
Feelings are more personal and thats something I have none towards with this thread. Everyone has the personal opinion. Some ppl have actual advice and then theres others who just like seeing themselves talk in a thread such as this one.
I'm all three lol!

I never said it was wrong, just how I feel. I'm def not one to say that just because someone is doing something differently than I would makes it wrong.

O no I did not say you said it was wrong.
Youre personal feelings towards it and the thoughts of what I am doing are different from what I feel and believe. Like I said we are not going to agree but its not saying either is wrong. Youve stated your opinion and I am acknowledging by response and a polite retort. I only get I guess "crazy" when its other things I dont feel like typing are being said lol!

I wish we couldve stayed longer, but finding a parking spot and gathering the litter I have together and paying a meter I didnt know was there with nothing but dollar bills( first time in a place with sooo many meters)We didnt get to stay but almost 2 hrs   But he was just so happy to be around such science! Thank you for the link!

Janell the point is that you posted this topic asking for opinions and when you got them you got defensive and catty. So what if people don't agree with the way you teach your kid? Not everyone is going to and if they voice their opinion about it they have every right to. No one is saying your son will fail or that you're not a good teacher, its HOW youre teaching ( educational videos/play time) that they seem to bothered about. Which is fine. You asked, they told you, and you got angry and proceeded to explain why your method is advancing your son ( in a very gloating way). If you already feel like what you're doing is working then leave it be. Its a public forum and you're going to get opinions whether you like it or not. Its good to hear that you're successful in home schooling. I plan on doing the same. Good luck!

Never was I angry
And being told its not going to work without considering its just a different method and scrutinizing everything I placed out there is bad....isnt ADVICE. Ppl who have no idea but will place their opinions out there thinking it is advice is something I will defend.
Lol, me getting angry on a public forum...because of strangers is funny to me. Its stupid honestly
I gloat proudly if someone thinks what I am doing is not working when Ive already got proof in the pudding and its a damn tasty one hahah.
damn i want some pudding.

anyway. Once you start homeschooling you will see a lot better of where some opinions are coming from and why you will defend yourself accordingly. I am open to all of it. If I werent I shouldnt be homeschooling. How will I teach my child how to deal with the world if I cannot deal with internet "bullies"?
Its nothing but a small thing their opinions. If it were coming from somewhere more legit and they had experience in it....Id be more receptive...heck even if it were said that " I havent seen that method, but it could work" instead of saying nay to it throughout the whole thread doesnt show me as being defensive but them determined to prove a point they have no way of proving unless theyve done it or are doing it. Stating your opinion once is cool...twice...is whatever but a whole thread filled with the same thing but when i give my opinion about your opinion you want to call me defensive lol (not speaking of you primarily) like yeah....

Honestly advocate is definitely one of the members I've seen who can dish out what she "eats". Again, if its working than more power to you. I think its great you're homeschooling.
