I appreciate you saying that,really!
I know hes tested higher than his peers, me taking him out and teaching him is why. So when I am told that nothing I will do is going to work out and he will flip burgers...yeah I have to put out there how I went through the same and I did just fine (academically). Its not demean anyone as far as education. As ive said we all learn at different paces and levels ...As his mother seeing he was being neglected because of how they treated the kids as a whole instead of individuals...Being told he is excelling beyond his years, but yet they are keeping him with work thats honestly not challenging him whatsoever...i wanted to change that.

Nothing I do is perfect, but unless someone is open to understanding my situation more and him as an INDIVIDUAL...it will always be a battle to get people to see where I am coming from.
Someone will always think that I am boosting him up way to high.
Someone will always hate my curriculum.
Someone will always hate my schedule.
Someone will say my child will be flipping burgers because they dont like something or another.
I know in the end as long as he continues to excell then I am happy so something must be working.
Im no genius, but as a homeschooler and have being homeschooled we have to go through a bunch of testing to make sure he isnt falling behind in his studies and ppl seem to not consider that. I cant just bring him home and literally place him in front of a tv PRAYING he learns something lol! I have countless packets to complete and so does he.
I am no teacher, but anyone who is serious about their child's development will do everything possible to make sure they personally do not fail that child!

It also seems because I said freestyle it is assumed that he doesnt get anything else done in the day. It only means that we have alloted time to catch up on something that isnt scheduled or add something into it. Thats the great thing about homeschooling because you have the ability to change the schedule as you see fit! You can make a video work for your child if you work with it. I have 3 kids and I am a high risk pregnancy doing a lot more than what my docs say i should only because i am so determined to see him grow. My husband gets up at 330 and comes home at 8 from duty and pt (they now make them pt AFTER work instead of before -_-) and even though he is tired he goes and works with him on currency and russian. They cooked baked ziti together last night and Armon learned about the science of liquid. It was neat to hear him explain something so complicated in detail.
I got a lil' aggravated towards the last few pages when it seemed everything I said made no sense to anyone and when i said its been working I was told that I am gloating. I got foul after saying the same thing over again, I apologized for it because thats not me, but anyone who is being told nothing they do is working and that they are lying or stretching the truth about what has....eventually will reach that limit and I reached mine stupidly lol.
If someone thinks they can do better than so be it!

It sounds like you have his best interest in mind. It takes a lot of work and structure to homeschool, and it's very noble. If you know people are going to act like that, then just keep doing what you're doing. As long as he is learning, you're good to go. For a four year old, that sounds like a very busy day! (In a good way)

Quoting Janell C.:" advice that is wanted for those who would like to contribute 1. how do you think the layout should be ... [snip!] ... or didnt Im satisfied with the material/ curriculum. Open to any suggestions by teachers or mothers who have homeschooled. "

Well, I learned how to do class schedules/plans for that age group these last few weeks, so, can I take a crack at it??

My first suggestion to you, is to do what my teacher told us to do when we get our own class of students. Pick a main subject, and make everything from the week about that subject. Like, if you choose oceans, make as much as you can, be about the ocean in the classwork. Learn about sea animals, learn about the history of pirates, read some ocean books, make a small aquarium to learn about fish in their natural habitat, etc. Kids learn best when they have plenty of time to absorb a topic.

For the schedule you have, let me modify it the way we would in my class:

Morning!
Eat,Wash,Pray =1 1/2 hr (I took out that TV show, because TV should be a reward for doing well in classes, not a pre-class thing. At his age, I sure didn't watch TV before I went to school)

Math = 15 min
Phonics and Handwriting = 15 min
Vocabulary Cards = 15 min (10 words to recognize by end of week) (Make a game out of some of this, and it'll fly by, and he'll memorize a LOT)

Arts and Crafts=30 minutes
Play time =30 min (Kids need time to unwind in between work during the day. 30 minutes is a good amount of play time)

Lunch=20 min (Give the kiddo more time to munch, lol)
Story time=15 min (Read more than a few pages. You read to him, have him read it back to you, start bigger books, but 15 minutes is more than acceptable for a gifted child.)
Nap=1hr

Popcorn and 1hr educational video (Popcorn and a Movie)= 1hr --(I wound nix this all together. You could add in Science and take him out for a nature walk, or do other experiments. But no kid needs an hour of movies when they're being home schooled per day)
Phonics and Handwriting= 15 min
Math= 15 min
Free time BOUGHT on good behavior based by the currency they've earned throughout the day (currency system placed by husband and I to teach them value and reward system)= 15-30 minutes
Vocabulary= 10 min
Spanish Time! =10 min

Freestyle the rest of the day!!

Remember, his age group learns best through play, so make a lot of it into a game, and he'll pick up whatever you teach him easily.

I appreciate your input and I will be incorporating it! I said 5-10 minutes story time because i read very quickly by habit but I will slow it down because it is TOO quick and that also goes for lunch time too. He eats quickly but maybe if I make lunch more interesting and more of a time to learn something I can stretch that too? Maybe.... cooking class? He can help me fix lunch and begin dinner? Ugh, help me lol!!!

Actually, a lot of cooking, is like Chemistry. You have to carefully measure ingriedients (sp?), you have to make sure to put it in the right order, you have to cook it right... Kids want to eat more when they have a hand in the creation. So you could possibly serve healthier food because he'd want to eat it more.

You can add more Science, and definitely add some kind of history. History is important. But you'll figure something out. Maybe consider looking up some example schedules, they can help.

Make it as much like regular school as possible. Make sure there's plenty of socialization.

Thank you love for all the great advice. See, i didnt even think of chemistry! It'll be good for both ends because I suck at anything science lol and I could use a refreshment course.
He goes through our association and also book clubs and meet and greets for socialization in fact...sometimes too much but Id rather it be too much then too little of course.
We do do the one topic per subject a week and youre right, it does work better with that. When we started our videos selected and given to us by our association we had no choice but follow one topic with his history a week. We watch the video and then we discuss it and we do little games and reviews to see how much he learned. Its actually a really neat thing. They give you a packet and you just follow it. Its one area I know a good deal about but I dont know how to translate it to his age without boring him or giving him WAY too much info lol, so this has helped a lot!
I will be having a 10 year teacher come over in the next week to watch our daily routine and evaluate (my choice to have this happen) just so if she sees something that could be better, she can show me a better way or she can at least direct me in a new direction. I am thrilled Ive got people in my corner rooting for me and knowing I wouldnt fail my child. I dont know everything out there and I wont pretend to, but I will teach him anything about everything. Hes so receptive!

  Cooking is a science and an art all in one bundle. I love cooking with DD, she really does start picking up on how to do things, even just stirring and breaking eggs, and she's just 16 months old.

Her pedi wants me to enroll her in a Montessori school, but we'd have to move. The nearest one is in Greensboro, and her grandparents are here. I was told that as long as I keep working with her, and doing what I've been doing, she'd be fine.

DD watches educational TV a lot too, so don't feel bad about that. She watches Dora, Super Why!, Magic School Bus, and other stuff. I fully attribute a chunk of her being able to say 40 words and being as advanced as she is, to her watching Super Why. She also got some smarts from her mama's side of the genetic fence, though.

I know! I will need help in some areas and I am not ashamed to admit it.
There will always be someone lurking and saying how I used seen in the wrong context on here...waiting for me to make a grammatical error because I said I homeschool a kid who is doing very well. Why must I use grammatically correct anything on here all the time when this isnt school? My child does not suffer because of what I do on here. Sad how ppl have to pick you apart as a person to "prove" a point that cant be proven if you cant see how the person is doing things in real life. Im not trying to impress anyone here on babygaga lol! I impress me because I see what I am doing.
You have been very understanding and the first one to post (ive been getting emails) and really see that I am not gloating or bragging or anything of the sort. Its me, as his mother teaching him. Doing more than the average person with a heavy load and doing well at it if i say so myself lol. Youve been very open to my style and it's good to know there isnt always closed-mindedness on this site, but ppl who know that this is a place to grow and learn and...find out things they may have not known before. Youve given me very positive feedback and critique all at the same time. Thank you.

Eh, I understand where you're coming from, because I have a gifted little booger myself. And, I'm teaching her, going to college, and more, all in the same time frame. I get the whole 'I have a LOT on my plate' thing.

I'm also more open to your teaching methods, because I go to school for Early Childhood Education. I know there are many methods for teaching a child, and honestly, the way the public school system does it, it's not the right way to do it in my opinion. The standards of learning are some of the most ridiculous loads of smurf that has ever hit the school systems. It makes teaching all about cramming as much info in your head as you can, then you forget it after the year ends. That's not how school is meant to be.

Young children learn best through play. Play is a child's work. The whole concept of kindergarten is a Child's Garden full of educational toys and stimulating things meant to help a child learn.

Many people on here think that the only way to learn is the way that schools do it, which is false. There are MANY ways to learn. Many many ways.
