He has no legal rights at birth unless you put him on the birth certificate. Then still you are primary guardian as the mother, so even if he pushed for it they'd probably ask you first. Even married everything was discussed with me and then we made a decision.

someone's brought that theory up to me before! (was it you? haha)
i could see that-- though i really reallllly want him to know that my ideas of what i want for my son's body, are in no way connected to how i feel about his body

Really good to know, i mean, he'll still sign the paternity affidavit and be on the BC at the hospital. but it's good to know that the parent not wanting the surgery done (in this case) is the one they'll talk to first.

I've honestly never heard of them going to a father over a mother for anything unless mom is incapacitated.

They do it in the hospital after they are born in the states?
I can't speak for all of Australia, but where I am in Sydney, they refuse to do it. In my area there is only one doctor that will do it before they are 6 weeks old, and is like $600. This guy is in the right profession though, his name.....Dr Willy haha

It figures you'd get pregnant with the boy and have to make this decision, Kenz. Like you two don't already bump heads enough... Haha

I think it'll all be up to you.Me & my SO have had many arguments over this topic as well.I'm not pregnant yet but we've still talked about what our plans would be,& he is in tact so he would obviously want our son to be as well, but my other son's father was cut,so like an idiot,I went along with it. I hope it doesn't cause any fighting or anything if we do end up having a boy.I barely did any research when I was pregnant with my son,I just went along with what his father wanted, which I regret now because I left my hospital room after they took him to have the procedure done & as soon as I heard him crying I fell in the hallway to my knees because I was so upset.Definitely not going through that again !

Yeah, it was probably me, lol! I bring it up a lot because it helped me in understanding where DH and his circumcision rage was coming from It helps get your point across better and make things less volatile if he feels like his pride isn't being stabbed at and his feelings are being taken into account. He may not even notice that's how he feels about it, you'll probably have to show him. 'Cause no rational person would think "omg, my son needs this cosmetic surgery for no reason other than to look like me!", lol.

We made the decision not to circ our two boys based on the pure fact that it is not our body so who gives us the right to tamper with it.
Oh boy did we get the verbal crap kicked out of us for making this choice, but we stood strong and didnt sway with our decision (dh nearly did give in).
When my boys reach an age where I can speak to them about it then they can make there own mind up as to what they want to do, this is a procedure that cant be reversed so for us unless it was detrimental to their health we chose not to do it.
By the way I am not knocking anyone that choses to get there child/children circed I was just talking about our reasoning for the decision made.

Want my Jason? He just said tonight "we aren't doing it, if he wants it done later he can get it done himself" after being stubborn to get it done.
