Yes in my area they start at one. Geeze I felt guilty waiting until one and a half. Honestly its relatively cheap for it out of pocket, that's how I pay. But anyways, that's good that she's excited. I loved the dentist as a kid because I got stickers and a new toothbrush lol

My nephew just went to the dentist.. He is 5 & had 2 root canals done on his front teeth

My daughter got cleanings because she has what they referred to as "chalky teeth" I hope her adult teeth do not have the same issues.

I think thats why she's excited haha .. But either way im glad she is..

I mean I told them on the phone she was 4 and this is her first visit .. They didnt seem to have a problem with it ..

Really? Incorrect across the board. I am pretty floored at all you just had to say.

#1 it is not a long time to not take her to be seen. #2. Not all kids freak out in the dentist chair and have to be gassed to be calm #3. If the teeth are that bad they will infact pull them and they will make a follow up for the treatment plan on the teeth if there is a need for it (this includes pulling the teeth). #4 Professionally, they aren't allowed to "give an ear full". It isn't ethical. One that does can be in big trouble

 

I waited until DD was 1 1/2 because she had chipped her front teeth. She's been in several times now and won't even let them examine her teeth. The chips are now half of 3 teeth broken off and she has an appointment for sedation, a cleaning and fixing them that's costing us $1600(quoted). I really wish I had started taking her earlier and gotten her used to going before there was a problem and maybe she would be able to sit and let them do their thing instead of all of this.

with my eldest i had a hard time as well.. i decided at almost two i was done with the night time bottles i trained him i can retrain him.

it could be that or it could be her enamel isnt as strong as it should be.

only a dentist can tell. bottle rot has a look to it tho.

I have seen it first hand by a dental hygenist.

All 3 of mine have been getting cleanings since one. As a matter of fact LO is 15 months and getting his first exam and cleaning tomorrow  

OP they will do x-rays and a cleaning. If anything is showing as far as cavities they will fix them at a later date, probably.

Ignore her. That was a bunch of ignorance. There isn't a problem waiting. TBH, most little kids either have an obvious issue that requires them to be seen or like me, I just take my kids because I go every 6 months and because insurance pays for it 100% I figure why not get them in the routine. I took my son before he turned two because I thought he had bottle rot. I have no idea why I would have thought that. I nursed the kid. lol Anyway, I was very ill for a while and had a nanny. Pretty much she wasn't properly brushing his teeth so he had a little plaque build up and I gave him liquid vitamins. The brown drops adheared to the plaque and there ya go. I still was freaked out though. lol I just used an electric tooth brush to start getting a better clean on his teeth and it all went away.

they will pull them i do remember this when my son chipped his tooth she said because it is not the adult teeth they just pull them.. which doesnt make sense if they are so young thats how they eat. i remember when i was little i chipped both of my front teeth and they capped them then i got my adult teeth.

Be floored all you want, this is what I have been told by my DS old dentist. I'm going by what was said. Most kidsm in fact, do freak out. Dentist don't wanna deal with them, so they gas them. I was told they don't pull teeth because they're baby teeth and they'll eventually fall out. Lastly, it may be unethical, but it does happen. I've heard my sister get chewed out by my nephew's pedi cuz of his weight, I hear her get chewed out by my niece's pedi because my niece is 4 and haven't been to a dentist and still sucks her thumb, I've heard OBs chew out girls for their weight and I've heard my DS's current dentist chew out a mom because she doesn't enforce teeth brushing with her 2year old. So, you may think you have all the facts, but you don't. This is what I've been told and what I've experience. I'm sorry we were taught differently.
