breast milk for 4 year old

posted 9th Dec
When this bun in the oven arrives DS will be almost 4 years old and hasn't breastfed since he was 22 months, but if can pump this time around and my supply is good enough I want to switch out his rice milkfor breast milk. What are your thoughts on this?

The baby needs it more than the 4 year old.

I think it would be wise to save it for the LO on the way? And I could be wrong I'm not 100% on this but I think after the first year the benifkts from breast milk are not very much once they get on real food and milk. BUT I could be wrong   but I say if its something you want to do and your producing enough milk for them both go for it

I agree, I don't see any drawbacks to it. It would probably be great for him!

let go. the 4 yo is a big boy and no longer needs your nourishment. I mean, at least you're not planning on talking into going back on the boob, but he doesn't need it. It's pretty weird if you ask me.

No the benefits are still there after the first year. WHO recommends breastfeeding until at least 2. Just because they are on solids doesn't mean the benefits go away at all. If you can produce enough for two go for it OP.

i think you should ask your doctor first just to make sure. but if its all okay and your able to supply for both then all power to you. sounds like it'd be an awesome idea

If the 4 year old was sick, and the baby is also getting enough, I think it's justified. Breastmilk has amazing healing properties. Otherwise I think it's a little strange. Just my opinion.
