re: I hate that I can't be a SAHM, how many of you work?

posted 9th Dec
I work full time AND part time. it def is overwhelming, but as Lo gets older it gets easier to leave him. I work 5 days a week 530am to 2/3 pm. 2 days a week I work 5pm to 10 pm at my other job. I love my son to death but I honestly would not be able to stay at home with him all day everyday, I give those moms that do stay home credit cause I would not be able to do it. He drives me nutssss! haha. Those moms that stay home must have alot of patience.

oh wow thats strange there are 3 co-op school in my county and none of work like that. we are a cooperative school, everyone works together to make sure childrens and parents needs are met including siblings. All of the mothers who have two children babywear and either nurse while babywearing or take time out to nurse there babies, when doing other duties they ask parents to hold babies, there isnt any "jealously" when children are feeling needy then the parent is there for them. idk it works and it works well. I love it.

Is it a playgroup or a daycare? I don't understand why the parent would be there if they need daycare. I only used daycare while I was working.

Then being a stay at home mom isn't what you want. If you are searching for adult interaction at your job, being home all day will leave you with the same issues. I promise you that. There are much more stressful jobs than working in a daycare. My friend is a nurse who works 12hr shifts 3 days in a row and every other week a 10hr shift after the 3 12's. Those are loooonnggg days. She goes home to a 10yr old a 2yr old and a 9month old. It is all doable. You just have to find a balance between work and home. Being a first time mom is scarry. You don't know what you are walking into. You always find a way to make it work. It always works.

Dude! AZ SUCKS!! I was fired at 5 months pregnant with my twins when I was fired from my job. I was there for 4 years and was the damn Director of marketing and ad! The fricken director. How do you fire your director with no warning or even "problems"? Well, the good ole state of AZ being a right to work state didn't protect me at all. It was because of my pregnancy. My boss kept telling me that I needed to hire an assistant to fill in and "take my place" while I was gone for 6 months. Who takes a 6 month maternity leave? Regardless, the jerk denied my unemployment claim. Thankfully, my husband had a lucrative job and we had plenty in savings. I was just pissed. I do know that if you go to like "open door" or "catholic social services" and they give you a referral, the state jumps all over taking care of you rather than if you walked in on your own.

I work part time right now, but while I was pregnant with my first I worked full time and worked till I was 39 weeks, I was off for 8 weeks due to a c section. I went back for a month then got laid off and stayed home with my daughter for 2 years, for me it was nice to stay home but I rather have at least a part time job, I went crazy being at home all the time. I am currently 27 weeks with our second baby and I plan on working till I am 38 weeks and I'm having another c section so I'll be out for 8 weeks but when I go back to work I might cut my hours down to 2 days a week so I am not stuck at home all the time.

Hmmmmmm....I would have looked in to that more! Even in a right to work state (Tennessee is a right to work state also) there is a such thing as pregnancy discrimination. Any type of discrimination is illegal in the US, right to work state, or not.

Yes, I did. The burden of proof was on ME. Before he fired me at 7pm on my personal phone, he locked me out of my email account and wiped my files. In a right to work state you are at will, they don't have to give a reason to terminate your employment. I just know that is what it was. He more than hinted at it from the moment I told him "twins".

because its a co-op school we are there as workers, there are 4 workers and 1 teacher 14 kids and any parent is welcome to stay if there kid needs them too, or they just feel like they need too. parents working lowers tuition cost.
http://www.wpens.org/ this is the school. and explains about co-op schools.

I'm not looking for adult interaction, I'd rather have no interaction with other people. I was just saying I don't really get that where I work it's mostly with kids, but I feel like I would much rather stay home with my own child than spending the day with other people's kids.

I totally get that, i stayed from with my daughter until 2 months before she turned 3. Do you really need the money? We have been pretty broke the last 3 years but we have made it work in order for me to stay home, are you a single mother? If you wanna stay home I think you should.

No not a single mother. My boyfriend works and we used to live together but just recently moved home temporarily, so now we have extra money I just feel like he won't pay for my bills for me because he thinks I have to work and put her in daycare. He's very cheap with his money I never even know how much he has or anything he's secretive. I feel like he should do this for me though now that he has an extra like 700$ a month and all he's have to pay is my car payment (220$) and school loan (54$) plus baby needs

how old is she? If you need more time with her then take more time, or try working for a month and if you find it to stressful stop. You just sound really wishy washy about the idea of working and like home with your baby is where you wanna be, thats exactly how I felt.
