Candy Cane Sleighs!

posted 9th Dec
I love this and DS and I are going to make these for his school mates. Which makes it easy because there are only 6 other kids in the whole school lol. Wanted to share this awesome idea

These are so cute! I am definately going to make these for SO's employees, instead of having him buy a box a chocolates for them like he does every year, lol.

I pasted the link but it kept coming up dead   I'll get the directions for you though

Candy Sleighs: Hot glue gun, 1 standard Kit Kat bar, 2 candy canes, 10 Hershey bars (stacked 4, 3, 2, 1), ribbon & a bow on top
They were fun to make. We made a dozen of them in about an hour and a half (plus wasted time driving around town looking for Christmas ribbon!) I think it was much easier doing them together so we had extra hands. One person to hold while the other one glues... especially for the first step! First you glue a kitkat bar to two candy canes to create the base. We used hot glue and ran a strip of glue down each candy cane.

Next, attach 10 mini hershey bars on top, with just a drop of glue for each. You stack them in a pyramid, first 4, then 3, then 2, then 1, like this:

After all the glue is hard and secure, glue ribbon around your "packages" and a bow on the top. That's it! so cute and fun and your recipient can keep it as a decoration or take it apart and eat all the candy!

I bought some at a craft fair here. All I can say is DON'T hot glue them together   I couldn't get the damn things apart without crushing the chocolate bars, then open one up for the kids and the chocolate was clearly melted then rehardned right where the hot glue dap had been on the packaging - didn't want to give it to them incase the plastic had melted into the chocolate at all.

I'm so glad you posted this! Maybe just some super glue then?

Yeah, I think that would work much better. Just scared me to think of letting the kids eat the chocolate that the hot plastic wrapper had melted to BLECH lol

Those little sticky dots (for scrap booking) might work well too once you were past the base.

im going to use the perm double sided tape. it sticks really well. it may be tricky with the candy canes but if you make the ribbion tight enough it should be ok
