He probably has a belly ache..The milk soothes it but as soon as he drinks it it makes it worse. My lo had the same problem and it turned out to be acid reflux. Try some gas drops and if that don't work take him to the dr. in the morning

This. And an upset tummy with that much food. FYI dont ever put cereal in the bottle unless there is a medical reason to and you are being advised to by a doctor. Call your doctor before rushing to the hospital.

Ugh. I missed that.
Probably why his belly hurts. 2 month olds stomachs cannot digest cereal.

my aunt is a pedi dr and i called her and asked about the cereal. the only reason she said one scoop cuz it was like he wasnt getting full. as soon as he would finish one he would want another but i tried to space them out.

Thats no reason to put cereal in a bottle. The reason cereal fill's them up is because they can't digest it. Think of what happens to your tummy if you eat a lot of white rice. Its full and bloated and can cause constipation. Same thing with your baby.

he can digest it because he lost alot of weight after he was born because i wasnt producing enough milk and they had me give him one scoop of cereal to help him gain weight. they told me to stop when he was at the weight he needed to be at

Well no offense to your aunt, but that is very dangerous.

#1. You can cause your child’s allergies. . .
While no one agrees completely on what it is that actually causes allergies, we do have enough research to see certain connections. One, very well documented connection to serious allergies is when a baby has been exposed to the allergen too early. Putting cereal in your baby’s bottle, even rice cereal, can cause allergies.

#2. Choking hazard
Some infants do not fully have their swallowing reflex fully developed at birth. Sucking cereal from a bottle can cause a choking hazard. . .and babies have actually died this way. Choking on cereal from a bottle certainly isn’t a common cause of death. . .but why do it when it is linked to something like choking?

#3. Digestive Issues
There is a connection between babies who have solids too early and digestive problems. The fact of the matter is that baby tummies are designed to take in breastmilk. When you can’t breastfeed, there’s formula which mimics breastmilk. Baby tummies are not designed to take in solids, and it’s not surprising that they malfunction when forced to do what they’re not designed to do.

#4. Obesity
One key factor in obesity is infant feeding. Infants are born with a self regulatory ability to take in only what they need. By feeding on demand and following a baby’s cues, you are essentially helping them form habits of eating when hungry and eating until they feel full. This sets them up for a lifetime of healthy eating habits. But when you add cereal to a bottle, it bypasses their system and essentially they take in more calories than they need.
#5. It Doesn’t Work!!!
There is no scientific evidence to support the notion that baby’s sleep better with cereal in their bottles. The truth is, babies are designed to wake frequently at night. Dealing with sleep deprivation is part of the parenting package.

have you tried gas drops? even tho some babies may be able to digest cereal it can leave alot of air from sucking it thru a bottle. you may try accouple drops before a bottle and see if it helps.

There is a reason they told you to stop. He had a medical reason to need it and now he doesn't.

I mean, do whatever you want, it's not my kid, but giving a 2 month old is very dangerous, unnecessary, and unhealthy. And that is why he has been crying all day.

They can if it's not a huge amount. My Son has really bad GERD...to the point he was hospitalized for it. He was 2 months old at the time. They told me to put a tbls per ounce in with his formula. It gives it more weight and helps it stay down. He's done great with it. He's 3 months old now, and still takes the same amount without a problem.

OP-I kinda think that you've given him too many bottles. Sounds like an awful lot.

There are very few exceptions to this rule and everyone claims to have one.
99% of the time the risks far outweigh the benefits.

She said its because he wasn't getting full, 2 month olds eat all the time, that's just how it is.
