Christmas presents 12 + months

I am going to be waiting until after Christmas to get my son his presents because I want to wait and see what he gets from other people.
What are some ideas of big toys that your son/daughter liked? I was thinking of getting 12+months presents. He is going to be 8 months at christmas.
