2 year old weird with pie

We gave our son, 24 months, a bite of pie. 5 or so minutes later, he still has pie in his mouth. I'm trying to have him spit it or swallow it and he's running around laughing with his lips tight, I say open your mouth and he says "mmm mm" and keeps it shut. This goes on about five more minutes. Finally I grab him still and demand he spit it out. He's still laughing and shaking his head no and it's starting to run down mixed with spit. I demand harsher and his face gets serious but he still protects his pie. I threaten a smack ( they are light) and he still holds firm. I gently give a smack, but no reaction. I raise my voice but not yelling and then he crys and opens and half of the pie falls out then he shuts the other half back in and stops crying. Finally I scoop it out with my finger and make him drink water. That pie was in there like 15 minutes. What the heck, lol

Where did you smack him? And kinda...Why? I mean, I really don't see it being a big deal I guess...You gave it to him, maybe he wanted to savor it.

You spanked your kid because he didn't want to spit out his food? Maybe he liked it? Maybe he wanted to savor the flavor. I am not against spanking but that is messed up,IMO.

On his bunny over his diaper, he doesn't feel it even its just to show I'm being serious. Usually works, but even though its light I don't even do that without plenty of time and warning

if it wasnt harming him i would have just left it, he would have swallowed it or spat it out eventually.

Lol if my spanking is a spanking then so is a light tap with a finger. There is no pain or even discomfort with it it's just to show I'm being stern

You hit him for holding pie in his mouth? Weird. I don't agree with spanking anyway but this this seems like a particularly ridiculous reason to use it.

Yeah...I don't know, I think it could have been handled better.
I mean, my kid has been trying to climb on the back of my sofa and jump off all day but I've just been putting him in his room for a few minutes til he chills out (Door open, he knows to come out when he's calm).
I don't know, I mean, we don't spank but if that's what you do, whatever, but I don't really think that's an appropriate reason...KWIM?

Umm so you have him food and then smacked him coz he wanted to eat it and not spit it out?? 8-/ my 4 year old still loves to suck all the life out of his favourite foods before he swallows at times! Poor kid...

Wow really? You spanked your kid because he wouldn't let the pie out of his mouth, You gave him, It's not like he in harms way with it in his mouth, like the other lady said "Kids are kids"........
