Quoting LolaMcKitten:" Same here! My mother gave me an allowance of 40.00 a month - which SOUNDS like a lot, but I had to buy ... [snip!] ... use our money to buy. You wouldn't BELIEVE how quickly a 14 year old girl learns to bargain shop when it's her own money.  "

Yeah I never even got an allowance, I ended up finding jobs at 14 so that I could buy my own clothing cause my mom stopped at the age of 13. I basically started taking care of myself, cooking, and providing formyself at 13. However, I am gratefull for those life lessons cause I really think it taught me alot on what is really important and what isnt as far as getting by.

I never said that you said you couldn't feed them. I don't think you're number one parent just because you go without all the time.

Hahaha I KNOW RIGHT~!! so gross! like really how hard would it have been to spend 5 bucks on a package of 7 kids underwear. Oh well, i survived and guarantee my kids will never wear hand me down undies lol. we have 2 still in diapers, but the rest are potty trained.

Totally! The cleaning thing took me a while, lol. I moved out at 16 and my first apartment with my brother was eff'n nasty. Seriously. I just did not care. It got better with time and I like to think of myself as pretty awesome with household things now, but damn......the first apartment. In my defense, I lived with a bunch of college guys (yes, such a wonderful situation, my mom let me make wonderful choices, lol) and they were just as nasty.

I was pretty good at the cleaning, and cooking and all that. I mean my mom loved me the best she knew how, it just wasnt well, what most would hope for. At a very young age me and my sister had a lot of responsibilities, like cooking, cleaning, doing the laundry, and caring for all the animals. Most of it honestly didnt bother me but the animals did, because my mom kept brining more and more home lol...it was so annoying. that and the fact that she insisted I had to make her her coffee every morning...I remember thinking get off your butt and make your own damn coffee lol.

No. You didn't do things the right way. You didn't establish YOURSELF. if that man leaves you, and he will if you continue to act like a spoiled brat, you will have nothing.

I think it's fine if he helps her out with rent and stuff so she can get back on her feet. But if she's not bothering to help herself, that's a whole other ball game imo.

Thats EXACTLY what I was saying yesterday, and why I said I could see why she would be upset about the whole situation if this was happening.

How are you going to complain about him helping his daughter out when she asked and then casually mention going to your own parents for money?

He sounds like a guy who has his priorities straight. He's helping his child and grandchildren with necessities instead of spoiling his pretty young trophy wife. I'd always choose my kids over my spouse especially if it came down to something important vs frivolous luxuries. I mean christmas decorations? Really? Screw you little kids and that warm roof over your head, I need an inflatable Santa for the front yard.

Since she keeps changing her story, we have no idea, but from the original post - she asks for little bits of money here and there, but this month asked for help with rent. Supposedly so she could buy an iPhone, but I don't really believe much of what she says.

Anything not court ordered he doesn't have to pay.

Even so I think it's equally childish to ask her own parents for money for Christmas decorations. She has no leg to stand on if she was going to go running to her own parents for such a trivial thing.
