Definitely... but there's a line.

My bio mom would let me go out at all hours and say things like "call me if you'll be in after 3 a.m." when I was 15 years old. She'd buy us alcohol.. let me smoke pot and skip school... just because she wanted to be a cool mom. She regrets it now but at the time she wasn't really taking care of me.

My step mom stepped in and whipped my ass into shape. Thank God. Who knows where I'd be now otherwise? She got me back in line in school and with her help I made it through college and I just found out I was accepted to U of H law! Without her.. none of that would have been possible. She was a hard ass when she had to be, but now we're best friends

Like i said, I dont think its right to come in and just say I want you living this way or such and such doing this or whatever. However when it comes to the finances I do think that the spouse does have the right to say, if they want the other one continously paying or supporting a grown child. Because that does effect you and how you live.

I'm a thrift store addict. I would rather go without than consider paying full price for anything - purely based on principle! My kids are going to hate me lol.

  Me too! I bought most of DS clothing at thrift stores. Why buy new clothing when he is going to out grow them in a week or a day? lol

Heck.if I could find some for 5 bucks here id have some ... But the 2nd hand here are like 10 15 dollars a pair!

Oh I totally agree, but being a real friend wouldnt mean letting any 15 year old get drunk or high. My real mom was alot like your real mom, I never drank, never had a desire too, however i did hang out with ppl who did, and who got high, and I would aslo stay out at all hours of the night, she didnt even care if I came home on the weekends at all. I was allowed to drive when iwas 13, she would even call me at 2 am to come get her from the bar at night. I dont think being a friend is a person who just lets you do whatever you want when you want. A REAL friend is one who is always there for you, who is willing to tell you when your wrong and guide you into making good or better choices.

Im exactly the same way though, name brands mean diddly to me, I have never been a materialistic person and I am hoping to teach my kids the same thing. Yes value matters and all that, but you dont have to pay full price to get value lol. I am all for looking and holding out till i find a good deal

UGH I know they are starting to mark prices up here too!! i was like why pay 15 for a pair of second hand jeans when i can go to walmart and buy a pair for 12 lol.

Right? I can't imagine, lol. The only time I buy new is shoes - and even then thats because we have the same gender in multiple ages, so they get passed down if they are on good condition.

Same here! My mother gave me an allowance of 40.00 a month - which SOUNDS like a lot, but I had to buy every single article of clothing to my name, including shoes. She would buy two new outfits at the beginning of the school year, a backpack and a pair of sneakers. Other than that, we had to use our money to buy. You wouldn't BELIEVE how quickly a 14 year old girl learns to bargain shop when it's her own money.

Oh, god no! ewww....no. We still have some in diapers, so I haven't really come upon that yet, but no.....new panties for us.
