Yes they are a group of 3 home birth midwives. You rotate seeing each of them and then whichever 2 are on call when you go into labor are the ones you get.

I just noticed that you asked if I have insurance. I'm getting married in 2 weeks to get on SOs insurance which covers between 80%-100% of prenatal care and birth. We only planned this wedding and everything because the first mw told us his insurance would cover it
We still can't come up with $3500 in 4 months though.

I wanted to have an unassisted and I had planned for one and was about to order all the gear I wanted, so I'm very in favor of them since birth is such a natural event and a great deal of the complications that women experience are as a direct result of medical intervention in an otherwise uncomplicated birth. However, I'm also a BIG fan of mother's intuition and believe that it should be listened to, if you feel like you should/not do something then listen to your gut. At the last minute I was overwhelmed with the feeling that something would go wrong with the cord (after having two births where the cord was totally fine and having no 'real' indication that there would be something wrong with this last one). So I listened to my gut and went in to the hospital much to my disappointment. Ultimately though I'm glad I did because a rare event took place where due to him having such a short cord, his cord stopped pulsing and started constricting prior to delivery and I wouldn't have been able to see his head change color due to the belly nor would I have know what the problem was if my husband had noticed it. But like I said, that's very rare to have happen, I'm not trying to scare you away from unassisted, just the opposite, we need to trust our bodies and what they tell us and in my case my body was telling me not to, I trusted it, and it turned out for the better. In many cases women trust their bodies to do what they should do and they deliver at home unassisted and their bodies tell them it will be fine and it is! Just listen to your body and what it tells you, trust birth, I know you'll know exactly what to do

My mom had her oldest at the hospital, tried to have her 2nd at home but the dad refused. But she had her last 3 with no problem except I was breech. I think she waited for a few days to go. I could ask and see if you would, like. She had all unassisted prenatal care to. We are all healthy and just fine. If youd like me too find out that for you pm me.

I'm scared I'll go to the hospital last minute if I don't have a midwife there
I don't want to go back to the hospital because they pressured me into things I didn't want. I feel like I'll be in too much pain and too frazzled to even be able to take a deep breath and reassure myself. That's how it was with the birth of my son.
With him I didn't have any support though. This time I have SO(although he was zero help the first time) and I'm going to have a doula(she's learning and is doing it for free but will still obviously be a huge help) and my best friend. I just don't know. I think I'll need as many people there to keep me home as possible lol and having a midwife or not having a midwife could make or break my experience.

Yepp tried to have 4 but my sisters dad chickened out and all of her pregnancies were unassisted. My mother doesnt believe in doctors. And shes trying to convince me to have one too, but I dont want to risk anything going wrong with me.

So wait rhey cover 80 to 100% and you have to pay $3800 on top of that?? That doesnt sound right. Could it have been a miscommunication?

No. In total they charge $3500 for prenatal care and the birth. They also supply the tub which was really great when I found out because they're like $200-$300 to rent ya know?
Then the second midwife told us that they bill one lump sum to the insurance company after the birth so I need to pay them in full before the birth, then I can keep the check from the insurance company that I'll get months after the birth rather than giving it to them. The first one told us that basically they just trust us to hand over the check after we get it...and if we don't they're screwed.
SO was there and he's just as confused as me so I know I didn't misunderstand either of them. I'm going to see what this next one says but if I do have to pay the full $3500 up front I guess I will try to get a loan for it or plan an unassisted birth. Idk what I'll do until I know for sure though about payments.

We are in the process of figuring out if my insurance will make my midwife in or out of network :/ she is 4500 if they keep her out of network.
I have someone in my PT who cleaned the midwifes house in exchange for her service..

do it. im sure alot of women take them to the pedi the next day or so.
can you get medicaid at all? i know they cover homebirths here and stuff andsome might work with you. I know if someone really didnt want to birth at a hosptial and i was amidwife, no matter I would support them ya know? good luck!

also you can have a PP doula come and check you out and baby and stuff. or even at home nurse ? or friends who are nurses?

The medicaid in CT covers it but I can't find anyone close enough so I moved to a close group in MA. The Medicaid in MA doesn't cover smurf but SOs insurance does so I'm gtting on that. Only problem is the place I'm going with bills the insurance company for the lump sum after the birth and then you have to wait for the insurance company to reimburse you. You have to personally pay the group before the birth
