every day it feels worst

posted 9th Dec
I was diagnosed with PPD. THis is day 3 of taking zoloft. And i feel absolutely miserable. I've been crying like crazy, having panic attacks, and feeling afraid of being alone. On top of that i feel disconnected from my son a little more everyday. It feels like the PPD symptoms increase everyday.... has anyone had this happen when they started the drug? and when did it stop getting worse and start gettign better?

Usually when you start an antidepressant the symptoms get worse before they get better. If you're concerned I'd call the doc just to check.

Give it several days to start working. I took Celexa when I had PPD, it took 2 or 3 weeks before I noticed a big improvement.

Good luck, mama!

It can take at the least 1 week for the medication to properly affect the seratonin in the brain. In the meantime try to get in at least 15 minutes of direct sunshine a day and 2-3 short walks outside (if weather permits) or other low impact exercise. Exercise and sunshine are natural anti-depressants and greatly help you, especially in correlation with the anti-depressant medicine.
