graco myride 65

are they really THAT HARD to install? i found "the one" i want to get my son but the review for it states:

"I bought this car seat for my son who still needs to be rear facing. (I also have a 5 year old, still in a Graco Nautilus, forward facing) I love Graco's products and this seat seemed comfortable for my little one to sit in. However, when I went to put it in my vehicle (Nissan Pathfinder) it was 1) VERY difficult to install properly in either middle or passenger side positions with tether or seat belt. 2) Made it so that the front seat HAD to be moved up. 3) Seat pads didn't stay affixed, became loosened easily. 4) since harness latch is on front of seat, it made it difficult to get your finger in between the car seat and the car's seat. 5.) MOST IMPORTANTLY.. it WAS not easy to get straps as tight as they should be to travel. It was doable (pulling and yanking behind the car seat) but WAY too hard to assure that he will ride safely every time. I took this car seat back into the store and got a full refund. I will keep looking!"

this kind of sucks to me because i am getting a pathfinder in february which will be my "mommy" car. although, alana has a big ass graco (not sure if it is the 65 or not) and it fits my civic RF and FF with no problem. maybe this girl is just an idiot?

is it really that hard to install? i know it is big, i saw it at the store yesterday.

Its such a popular seat, I think there would be more bad reviews but I'm not really sure. I hope not though, I'm thinking of getting that one once Kellan is out of his infant seat.

I think the size can make it difficult for some. I gave mine away, i hated it.

I have one and it's in my lifted jeep Cherokee and it's easy to install it's just big. But my girl loves it!

I don't think it's an issue for us. I have an Acura sedan and have to take out the seat every once in a while when LO says with family or something. We also have one in our Jeep, and that's not an issue either. I personally really like it and don't find it to be THAT challenging or heavy. It's sturdy and has nice features. I'm less than 5 feet tall too, and I don't go it hard to manage.

i'm using it for infant and toddler so i am taking my time to make sure the seat i buy is perfect. there's other ones i see i like, a few evenflos and of course britax but all we have ever used is graco (well, my oldest has some cheap kmart brand seat bc DH let her pick it out herself @@) so i feel more comfortable with them. i usually get an infant seat, then buy a toddler.

thanks ladies. i guess the lady who did the review probably had the most problem with the size. both my mom and their godmother have carseats for the girls and i am pretty sure they will both get one for the baby so i am not too worried about taking the seat in and out. i will just have DH install it and that'll be it!

We have the graco myride 65 safety surround. He has been in it since he was 8 months old.
We have a 2012 Chevy Equinox so it's size hasnt been an issue. We havent had to move the front seats up or back to accommodate it. I had a toyota corolla before, but we didnt have it in there- Im not so sure how it would fit because It is a big carseat...
The harness straps are a tiny bit of a pain to adjust because the slot to pull to adjust the straps is right up against the car's seat when you have it rear facing. SO it's a tight squeeze trying to get your fingers in there to do it but it isnt a major issue.
I actually found it pretty hard to get it in securely. We use the LATCH system and I could never get it in tight enough. Even SO couldnt get it as tight as I would like it. We tried the side seats as well, but I prefer to have him in the middle so he's there.
I definitely like the seat though! I would say its worth the little things that arent so great about it lol....

yea it will strictly be in the pathfinder so i am not worried about if it will fit in the civic or not. have you tried it with the seatbelt to see if it is more secure than the latch? even in my car i find that the girls' seats are more secure with the actual belt than the latch.

i bought it for my daughter and ended up taking it back before i even used it. I hated how big it was.

yes I tried the LATCH and the seatbelt in all 3 of the seats! I still wish we could get it a bit tighter but it seems to be ok.

I could not seem to get the LATCH tight enough either but it is really secure with the belt instead. So far everything else I love... DD loves to be in it. It fits very nicely in my Dodge Caliber.
