i feel like such a bad mommy

posted 9th Dec
Because I.can't be at the hospital with him everyday. The hospital is a hour away, and as much as i am dieing inside to be there, financially and my oldest child plus other responsibilities just do not allow me to be there.   I hate it so bad. I was there every day this past week, but I could only stay a hour or so at a time, my milk supply is trying to dry up because I haven't been able to pump as much as i should be the last 2 days. I feel like such a failure   Fml. Today I can't go see him because its raining so bad you can barley see straight in front of you outside, and my oldest does not feel well. :'(

Don't worry mama, you are not a failure. Many parents can't be there every day for various reasons. My cousin was in the same situation with her premie and the hospital was an hour away and she had an older child and only had one car but her Dh had to go back to work so she was only able to go on the weekends. It gets better - my DD was in the PICU for a week when she had meningitis and we were fortunate enough to stay at Ronald McDonald house because it was a children's hospital but I saw many children there that had been there awhile and their parents had to return to work or weren't able to make it every day due to financials. Your LO is being taken care of and hopefully you can take them home soon. *hugs*

don't feel bad!
you're doing the best that you can and your baby is in good hands.
it's not like you can even help by being there - you can't
just get your home ready and take good care of yourself - your baby will be home before you know it

Do not feel bad you are trying your best. It's hard having a baby still in the hospital. You are going there when you can that's all that matters. You still have another child to look after and care for and I am sure plenty of other responsibilities. My son was in a hospital four hours away from home, luckily we were able to stay close by. If he had been there longer we would have had to go home since affording the motel was getting to be difficult. Pumping is hard work. Hell I couldn't keep up with the 2 hour schedule and I only had one child to worry about. Stop kicking yourself. You are doing your best and that's all anyone could ask for.

Don't feel bad mama you are doing great. You are doing your best. <3
If you are worried about your milk you can take funagreek and blessed thistle to increase your supply but no matter what happens you are doing awesome <3 <3

Hunny, don't feel bad! With my first preemie we stayed at the Ronald McDonald so we saw her every day for 2mo straight. With our second preemie I saw her all but like 4 days of her 81 day stay. We are on our 3rddoor preemie(29 weeker) and I'm only going to be able to see her a couple times a week because we live an.hr away also.and BC of the two kids at home. It really bums me out but its just not possible and it doesn't make us any less of a mother. Gas is expensive to be driving every day, you are doing just fine. On the days I don't make it I call a cpl times to check up on her.

Jacob has been in NICU for 4 months now. It's very hard when you can't be there everyday but try not to feel so bad. I had the flu twice and serious problems with my c-section and had to stay away from his for days at a time. It's hard but your LO is in the best of care
