So how long are you supposed to wait? And what about if u have a preemie?
do the benefits outweigh the risks at that point?

I declined the flu shot, however I did get the dtap. I never get the flu shot, but my half sister got whooping cough at 1 month old and died 3 times. So I felt like I would take that chance and try to protect her with the dtap. The ONLY reason why I accepted the blood work and NT scan was for the ultrasound purpose. I declined the amino because IMO it was unnecessary. And I wanted to see my babygirl on screen so I said ok however I did tell my doc I prefer to not discuss their findings because in my eyes my babygirl is perfect no matter what. If it would have just been blood work and no ultrasound I would have declined that.

Vaccinations are a very confusing decision. My 5 yr old cannot be vaccinated at all, period because the risks for a reaction worse than the previous outweighs any benefits. So, that's easy, it's a decision made for me. I will say the more I research, the more I do not want to do any at all. Adrien has only been vaccinated to like 6 months of the recommended and it may stay that way.

My so has had to get the flu shot a couple of times, before going out of town for a job. He never gets sick either only when he gets that vaccine.

At least 3 months for your body and immune system to return to normal. I don't know, this part is my own personal opinion. I think there is a HUGE risk in even getting the DTaP. If you look at the rates of the DTaP vaccine given in "cocoon vaccinating" they have risen greatly, yet we keep seeing an increase in whooping cough cases. Why??? Well, in studies done in mice, colonization of parapertusis spreads in the lungs of vaccinated populations. If this happens in mice, why do we refuse to believe it happens in humans?

I've never been offered the dTAP vax during any of my 4 pregnancies. I only had the flu shot with my 1st and that was only b/c I was required to being in the military. I've refused it for all other pg and never get my kids the flu vax.

Genetic testing: never had it done. We will have a level 2 u/s done this time since DD DID have a birth defect (bladder exstrophy) and this time I NEED to know one way or the other, especially since we've been thru having a special needs kid, I need to be prepared for peace of mind.

I know   its so hard to decide what's best   plus also with me going in the nicu I don't want to risk getting whooping cough annapreading it to other immune compromised infants either. I don't wanna be responsible for killing babies   I can't seem to catch a break this far so it's like I don't even wanna take any chances.

This is the study with the mice. Government site btw, not some whackadoodle bias site http://www.cidd.psu.edu/research/synopses/acellular-vaccine-enhancement-b.-parapertussis I think another reason for the rise despite cocoon vaccinating being on the rise is it could put mothers in a false sense of security. "Oh so and so has had the DTaP, they are good to be around the baby." You can still pick up and pass the illness even while being vaccinated. The vaccination protects you, to decrease YOUR risk of contracting it. It doesn't instantly kill each germ with said illness any time it lands on you. You can still carry it around and pass it around without realizing. Proper hygiene and breastfeeding will always be the very best protection for your newborn, hands down.

ETA IDK why that link was broken http://www.cidd.psu.edu/research/synopses/acellular-vaccine-enhancement-b.-parapertussis
