Don't even let that bother you, seriously. Don't pass up a wonderful name due to a silly pop culture reference. In the long run, Vincent is a name that will serve him well through his entire life, long after Jersey Shore is out of the picture.

on another note.. Chauncey girl or boy name to you guys? it says male name... but my DD was ALMOST named that.

Haha.. my name is Jamie, so I see it as the complete opposite. I cannot see a boy with it, since it technically is the feminine form of James. Why can't they just go by James or Jim?... LOL

He actually does go by James to everyone else - Jamie is my pet name for him, it feels really weird for me to call him James. I think he would punch anyone else who tried calling him that. What awkward is that to me, he is Jamie, to his family, he is Derrek (his middle name, he went by that until he was 17) and to everyone else, he is James.

Gets a tad confusing when I get mail from his family addressed to Derrek. When I met him and even after we had been together a while, I had no idea he had gone by Derrek and I came across his photo album from childhood and it had pics of "Derrek" and his sister....and I'm like "Dude, who the hell is Derrek?" - "Oh, thats me!"

Haha.. I hear ya. I have a BIL named James, but goes by Jamie. His MIL had 5 boys and always wanted a daughter and never got one, so she called him Jamie and it just always stuck. He still to this day, goes by Jamie. I'm like DOOD, I cannot shorten my name!... Haha

I would hate not shortening my name! Or giving my child a name that has no nicknames - would drive me nuts.
