real contractions..

Dont have to be painful to be considered real right? I have been having contractions all day and some have been pretty painful, but others all i feel is my uterus tighten and a pressure in my back and down near my cervix, and a shortness of breath when they happen, but there hasnt been a whole lot of pain. I have been timing them for the past 20 mins, and they have been coming pretty frequently but im confused because its not really painful.. i had one at 7:40, 7:44, 7:46, 7:40, 7:53, and 7:56. Do you think i should go in? Im nervous but i dont want to go in and it end up being nothing y'know?

i was in preterm labor about 2 weeks ago (was at a routine high risk appt) and after the ultrasound the dr walks in and asked how long i have been having contractions and been in pain. i thought he was crazy! i didn't feel them AT ALL. so i definitely say it's possible!

Time them for at least 2 hours. If they are under or at 5 min apart for 2 hours, head to the hospital.

True. I thought I was experiencing BH contractions when it was the real deal. Few hours later my son was in my arms. Take a bath, relax and time for a full hour, if you are still having them in a pattern, as you are, I would call your OB/midwife. Good luck.

I was induced. Mines were 1/2minutes apart, but I felt only 1 contraction. I had to end up having a C-section due to failure of labor. I agree with you its possible that she can be in labor.

Well my doc told me to lay down and relax so i did and now they arent as close together but they are more painful.. maybe something will happen later tonight or tomorrow, im going to try to get some sleep though for now.

Thought i would add another update.. my contractions started hurting alot worse when i was trying to sleep, but they stopped coming so frequently and basically stopped when i got up thismorning except for a few random contractions throughout the day, not much has happened. I am starting to contract again though as of about an hour ago. Nothing timable though but they are getting pretty painful. Maybe tonight will be the night, but im not going to get my hopes up. It would be so wonderful to go into full blown labor naturally before i get induced. I just dont want to disappoint myself though.

Np, and i hope so too! In about two hours ill know if these contractions are actually doing anything or if my body is just a smurf. I have an nst then ill be getting checked for dilation.

Update: Got checked, I was 1 and a half dilated and my midwife stripped my membranes as well.. My induction date is this friday, I have to go in thursday night. I hope the membrane strip helps though and that he comes naturally before then!!
