Does he have Aspergers? Sounds so much like my brother when he was little.

Yes I'm aware there's a broad spectrum. She's 4 and 1/2 years old.. when could she be evaluated for it?? At her screening for preK they couldn't even score her on anything.. all they could put was non-cooperative. Like for the vision and hearing for this very reason.

Yes, you need to talk to her pedi and tell her about your concerns.

Sometimes and sometimes it is missed because some still don't believe in it or think it is out grown. They never out grow it but they do learn coping skills.

I think so and do have 4 or 5 of his teachers but his psych didn't diagnose him with it, so far all he "officially" has is ADD (no hyperactivity). He's in 6th grade and gets straight A's in advanced placement classes but although he's academically advanced he's socially delayed.

Oh he also has OCD tendencies, hates cutting his nails, hates cutting his hair, hates lotion, ducks to try to beat the buzzer on the microwave, obsessively washes his hands, does this sniffing thing with his nose, licks his lips until they gave a red ring all around them. Things have to follow the pattern he expects or he just loses it. Can't wait his turn, interrupts, talks incessantly about things and doesn't realize when others are uninterested.

Currently her pediatrician acts like he can't get us out of his office fast enough because of the way she is... constantly running off and getting into their things... falling into the floor and not saying a word.. (could be a normal tantrum but I don't think so combined with everything else she does)... so I'm looking for a new pediatrician.

I read your post where it described her behaviors and it does sound like she is behaving impulsively but still might have a hard time getting her evaluated at this age. Also... the appearance of hearing problems is common in this too. Do you have any family members that have adhd? If you do they might take a look before they otherwise would.

Does waiting til last minute to pull the plug on the drain, or waiting til last minute to flush the toilet so they can run out (for fear of going down the drain) count towards that??

Usually they do in kindergarten but sometimes they will earlier.

I don't know about adhd per se.. but there are members of my family with mental and psychological problems.. my mother is severe OCD.. and I don't know what's wrong with my aunt. :/

I would get a new pedi like you are planning and maybe speak with your local school system's psychologist. Good luck

My brother would pick at his lips. My brother was diagnosed with ADHD but wasn't correctly diagnosed until middle school (back in the 90's). I would definitely look into a psychologist doing some independent testing because he sounds very much like my brother. One big sign of Aspergers is them being very social IF the topic is a topic they are more or less obsessed with because they have a vast knowledge of the subject. My brother can talk all day long about wrestling with anyone. In my psychology book it described it to the extreme of a child being obsessed with trains and their schedules to the point they can tell you any schedule you wanna know about.

We have a general guidance counselor.. but no psychologist.. very small town. Would she be able to do the same things??
