Sciatic Nerve??
posted 8th Dec
I'm currently 30 1/2 weeks pregnant with my first baby. At about 29 weeks I started having unexpected pain in the back of my upper left leg. I guess I can best describe it located as right underneath my butt cheek. And the more I walked around and stood at work for 6+ hours the pain worsened. So I finally went to my doctor this past Tuesday and he said he suspected it to be the baby pinching my sciatic nerve. So he put me on Prednisone for 7days. I'm half way done taking it and it hasn't alieviated the pain what-so-ever. I'm supposed to call when finished with it, he said if it hasn't gotten any better he would need to contact my O.B. and probably schedule an MRI to see exactly what the cause of pain is.
I'm just wondering if anybody else out there has experieced this during pregnancy and what happened. They actually sent me home from work today b ecause I can hardly walk around without limping and it takes me like five years to get somewhere. And sitting doesn't help at all, it actually hurts to sit. And now my back and right leg/foot are taking a toll from putting all my weight on the right side.

I had it from about 27 weeks on and still have it. Nothing can be done except to deliver the baby...a MRI is totally pointless. All you can do is hope the baby shifts positions and takes some of the pressure off the nerve. I work between 8-14 hour days on my feet all the time and its easier for me to stay walking it hurts more if I sit for awhile and try to stand up. Good luck

mine started when I was pregnant with my first, and I still have problems with it. it is worse during pregnancy.. but it still happens a lot. I can't drive for long periods without having to stop and switch drivers...
