Yeast on babies any ideas??

posted 8th Dec
My 4 week old has had yeast on his little butt for over 2 weeks now. The Doctor prescribed Nystatin but it doesnt seem to be working at all, took him back today and they prescribed another anti fungal to see if that will work. Just wondering if anyone has any other ideas I can use to get rid of this. My poor babies little testicles are full of little red bumps and he is just miserable. Any advice/ideas would be greatly appreciated. Oh and I already use unscented wipes, and wash his butt in water each diaper change and those things dont seem to be working either.

Apple cider vinegar! I use it in my washable wipes solution because of its anti-yeast/fungal properties.

Quit using wipes. Just use some water and a washcloth. My dd goes through this still if she is given antibiotics. And make sure you put Desitin or such over the other buttcream to make it stay put

Will it burn? Do I use on his wipes or rub it on him?

This! Also add a little bath water. And if you get a yeast infection a bath with apple cider vinegar helps so much.

No it doesn't burn, I thought it would but it doesn't, you just need to water it down a little. I use it in a 100ml spray bottle along with other stuff. About a tablespoon per bottle is good. Like a previous poster said you could put it in his bath water, but it does have quite a strong smell so I mask it with a few drops of tea tree oil. You could make your own wipes mix while he has it, use toilet paper or an old wash cloth. I put a little olive oil, apple cider vinegar, witch hazel and tea tree oil and water down. Just spray on and wipe everytime you change him.
