Wouldn't your OB have an idea? I mean, it just seems like something he/she should have gone over with you when you became pregnant...

A friend of mine was diagnosed while she was pregnant. That's how she found out her ex husband had cheated on her. She needed a c-section with her second because she felt that an outbreak was coming on. I don't know if it was necessary or not, but she didn't want to risk it

Yeah I'm pretty sure you would, atleast that's what I read in one of my c-section books I was given to read.

I would tell her, for sure.

I got falsely diagnosed, but my OB with my first explained to me that when an outbreak occurs so close to the delivery date, a c-section is the safest way to go. Even if you have no open lesions at delivery, the virus is still shed through vaginal secretions and can cause septic infection and blindness in the baby.

Oh, I didn't realize your OB didn't know lol. I thought your OB was the one who told you you had it. Sorry :/ Yeah, it can't hurt to bring it up at your next appointment can it?

I don't know... Maybe tell her that they thought the baby's heart rate was a concern and took the side of caution?

You really need to talk to your Dr about this. I know about being ashamed I had to talk to my Dr about something very uncomfortable when I was pregnant. But it really is best for the DR to know. They might be able to still do a normal vaginal delivery.

Drs see this stuff all the time! They don't care and don't judge you they just want to get the best health care for your LO. I know its hard to tell them but you really need to just let them know.

Even if you are not having a break out they should still know.

And if they do choose to do a csection it is not that bad at all. It even has some pros, like the get most of the blood out so you don't bleed much at all after.

Its all going to be OK! try and relax you will feel so much better after you talk to you DR.
