Christmas Traditions?

posted 8th Dec
What's some cute/fun christmas traditions for toddlers? They wouldn't be able to understand "Elf on a Shelf." My youngest probably could next year, but not this year. So what's some fun ones that the entire family could do? I'd really like to start a fun tradition.

Make holiday decorations or even sugar cookies. Young ones can put things on decorations with tape or glue, and parents can cut. Parents bake cookies, young ones put in pre-measured ingredients.

My family just puts up the decorations together, watches movies, and makes all different kids of goodies
We also make homemade family Christmas cards to send to family w/pictures...nothing extra special....We like to put the focus on family, spending time together and expressing that love.

I make gingerbread men and then when he's not paying attention, I hide them around the house and tell him they escaped somewhere and we need to find them. It's almost like an Easter Egg hunt, but gingerbread men

Christmas Eve we look at Christmas lights and read the Polar Express.
We also decorate the tree and house together while listening to Christmas music.

The gingerbread man idea was a good one!

My son loves it. Sometimes I'll sneak a few into my apron while he's not looking and tell him he has to guard the cookies that are on the cooling rack while I run somewhere in the house and hide the ones I stole, then I'll come back and say, "Oh, no, looks like some got away! I thought you were watching them! We need to find them!" And then when he goes off to find those ones, I hide the rest of them.

Harry and I get loaded drunk on Christmas eve and do smurfed up smurf to make it look like Santa was here, last year Brooke left carrots for the reindeer and Harry wanted to make it look like the reindeer ate them, but nobody eats carrotts in this house so they were like 8 months old, lmao he nibbled on the edges on legit moldy carrots.

day after thanksgiving we play christmas music and pull out the decorations. At some point we take the kids to hallmark to buy their series ornaments, we go to a christmas party every year and after we drive down candy cane and lollipop lane.
This year we started elf on the shelf. Watch Christmas movies..
Every Christmas eve they wake up and find PJ's from santa, that we take with us to nani's to change into in case they fall asleep on the way home. We spend the day there with Jason's family, then we come home, Jason and I watch Bad Santa and wrap gifts, the kids wake up on Christmas and it looks like Santa was here..
Oh we also bake a ton of Christmas cookies/candy and give cookie trays to the kids teachers, and friends and family.

We put hot cocoa in sippy cups and take the boys out to look at Christmas lights one night. We also always go to the Speedway in Lights. My boys love doing both of those!

We always open pjs before bed on Christmas Eve and we were them to bed. Of course, after that we set out milk and cookies for Santa as well as carrots and celery for the reindeers.

I am sure there is more, but I am sleepy and ready for a nap. Lol.

Oh and I DVR most of the movies on ABC Family's 25 Days of Christmas, and we watch a different movie after dinner/before bed every night until Christmas. We usually do popcorn, hot cocoa and candy canes (sometimes). The boys love it!
