4 1/2 month dd has been sick for over a month... i constantly have a cool mist humidifier going, and give her the saline nasal spray.. i have taken her to the doc at least 5 times and have seen 4 different pedis when going. we also brought her to the ER because i called a night time nurse one night asking a question and she said it sounded like she needed to go... well everyone says shes fine and she sounds a little congested but it will pass... WHEN?! i know i cant give her cough meds but shes constantly coughing and sometimes throws up from coughing so much. doc says its normal because their gag reflex is so sensitive but the poor thing has been sick for like i said OVER a month. what else can i do? i mean shes eating fine... plenty of wet diapers and pooping ok but this is ridiculous.

And breathing is okay?

She needs breathing treatments and steriods. She should be admitted.

A cough can persist for up to six weeks after a URI resolves. I would stillgive it some time, though from my experience I know it can be nerve wracking. It took months of persistent wet coughing before a doctor diagnosed my youngest with reactive airway disease and asthma and put her on nebulized steroids and inhalers.
