I don't know what to think

posted 8th Dec
I tested positive for chlamydia and well I've had tests done but the one thing they didn't test for I had. I know I've had it for over 2 years because it kept getting passed off as bv or a yeast infection. That explains why my son had an eye infection days after his birth. My last Dr. Didn't even do a pap because I didn't need one since I had one nearly 2 years before. I'm just irritated because I knew it was something especially since dh started getting symptoms. I was tested in August for everything but that then in October they finally caught it. I'm embarrassed and irritated because it could of given pnenomia to my son and I could of gotten this taken care of a long time ago. I'm just thankful it's treatable. Ugh sort of a vent I guess...

Why wouldn't a doctor do a pap when it's been 2 years since your last one? It's recommended that you get one once a year.

You're supposed to get one every yr! And they should always test for that if you've had unprotected sex. It's like the most common and easily passed STD out there

But seriously don't be embarrassed. It doesn't mean anything bad! And it's very easily treated

My OB tests for all std's at the start of every pregnancy and at each pap once a year. So weird that yours didn't.

Op, tht sucks. I'm sorry. Your doctor should have, at the very least, listened to your concerns and tested you based on that.i hope you don't have any lasting effects from having it go untreated for so long.
Don't be embarrassed, though. It's so common

I know when I get a PAP it's standard practice for them to test for chlamydia.

I haven't heard of that. The most I've heard was 2 years, but if you're on birth control they don't let you get a refill after a year unless you get another pap.

Kinda posted and ran.

Well he said they changed the procedures but I was tested for stds, I just find it weird I was tested for everything but even when I took meds for a yeast infection and bv but yet was still having issues.

I'm glad they finally caught it, I'm just sure I've had it for over 2 years and now I'm finally feeling normal.
