This is ALL I'm asking for...

I love being a mom.

Not just in the sense that I love my daughter. I really do love everything that being a mom entails.

I don't mind waking up at 6:00-6:30 every morning.

I don't mind that I lost most of my friends.

I don't mind missing on lunch because she usually eats hers and mine too.

I don't mind not getting to go to the movies or concerts with my friends anymore.

I don't mind not getting to drink just because I feel like it.

I don't mind taking a little longer to get somewhere, or taking a little longer to decide on plans because I need a sitter.

I don't even mind when, ultimately, 9 out of 10 times, I can't find one.

I have a quiet little life with my daughter, and I'm okay with that. This whole year has almost been a break from a social life, a different kind of reality, and I'm thankful for the person she's made me out to be.


But...

She won't let me smurfing draw.

I can be on the laptop, she doesn't give a smurf. Sitting here watching TV? Still no smurfs given. Reading a book? She'll just sit on the couch with me and chill there.

But the second I pull out my tablet and start drawing, she gets SO cranky it's unbearable.

Every time I start drawing, she cries and whines, and wants all of my attention.

The second I put away my tablet though, even if I'm not giving all of my attention to her, she's fine.

Drawing is the only thing that makes me really happy as a person. This is all I want to do besides being a mom. I don't care if I never drink again or if I never get to see another movie outside of my home, I just want to smurfing draw. =[ It pulls me out of my depression, it makes stress easier to deal with, and I've been neglecting it so badly because I went full force into being a mom.

Now, I'm trying to get back into it, and DD just is not having it.

Please tell me I'm not the only one who's baby has weird quirks like this...like, they just can't stand if you do this one thing, no matter what it is.

I put the tablet away and here I am posting on BG, and she's having fun playing by herself. She literally wants nothing to do with me unless I'm drawing.

I want to cry. This is literally THE most frustrating thing that has happened since becoming a mother.

Awwe. Maybe just do it when she goes to sleep?

Do it while she is napping or sleeping in the evening.

I am a crafty jack of all trades type of artistic dabbler, and I have been working in clay and resin in VERY small scales, I use a magnifying glass and it takes my utmost attention and concentration. I also work full time, and make time for my hobbies. Happy mom=happy kids.

Can you draw while she's asleep?

Maybe get her her own? How old is she? You guys could do Ilt together!

I have CFS. I sleep while she sleeps. Haha. She doesn't really nap in the daytime anymore either, so really by the time night time comes around, I'm so tired that if I'm not sleeping I don't really feel like doing anything but resting.

Do you have any pictures online? I have this thing for ridiculously small sculptures of things. Haha. Like, I'm kind of obsessed. I follow this lady on Youtube that buys those fun Japanese "make your own food" box kits and she has tiny kitchens and skillets and everything for them... It's insane! Lol.

That sucks bigtime. You could try just having it out around her or letting her play too

Besides, she's not too interested in scribbling yet. She just wants to put stuff in her mouth, still. I got her some of those jumbo crayons and had to take them back because she kept gnawing on them.

Also, she knows not to touch mommy's tablet. Lmao. As far as my life goes, the order of most important things would probably be her, then my mom, then my best friend, and then my drawing tablet.lol

What about getting her a color wonder set? So that she can scribble while you draw

You'll have to look through a few to really see them, and she does showcase vids. She buys whole grocery stores in miniature it looks like. Haha.

I told mom not to get my any Christmas presents and to just buy for Addie, but she finally got me to break down and say that if she got me ANYTHING it would be a pack of Super Sculpy III. I used to dabble in figures but I'm sure I'm absolutely ass at it now.
