I know how you feel, lady. It IS hard. It's an addiction, it's not something you can just say "ok I'm done!" You still crave the nicotine. Plus, the act of smoking is addictive in itself.

Just keep trying and be proud that you have done as good as you have!

My grandfather quit smoking over 20 years ago and still gets cravings. He knows he can't have one, but it doesn't stop the craving. I don't know if your cravings will ever go away, but you have done so well in quitting, and I commend you for that.

I smoked for five years before I got pregnant. I found out when I was four weeks, and cut back instantly. I smoked a few puffs a day for about a week, before quitting all together. Smoking while knowing I am pregnant didn't settle right with me. I still crave them, though. Chewing gum, or eating mints helps tremendously for me.

Not trying to be totally negative but smoking while pregnant is absolutely disgusting and so harmful for your baby, i know there are going to be girls on here that say "oh my baby was totally fine and i smoked" but to be totally honest not every girl and every baby are the same there are some major health concerns with smoking, i have a book given to me from the hospital called baby's best chance(there is also a baby's best chance website) and it says

" It is best to stop smoking before you plan to become pregnant. Smoking and second hand smoke are harmful before and during pregnancy, and after your baby is born. Cigarettes contain many chemicals that cross the placenta into the baby's blood.
If you are pregnant and smoke now is the time for both you and your partner to reduce and stop smoking.
Harmful effects of smoking and second hand smoke to baby:
Slowing your baby's growth and development
miscarriage
stillbirth
preterm bith and low birth weight

Smoking after baby is born:
Sids
More hospital admissions in the first year of the baby's life, they also have more illnesses, such as asthma and bronchitis.
A reduced milk supply in the mother "

I donno about you but all thats enough to get me not to smoke, i smoked for 5 years but ive been quit for 3 now, and i quit cold turkey. I think that being pregnant isnt about you in any way its about making that baby as healthy as he/she can possibly be and smoking makes that baby suffer inside you. Everything may be okay now but a doctor cant tell if your baby has asthma through an u/s

I really don't think she needs to be told it's disgusting. It's pretty disgusting that you would get on here and tell her she's disgusting while it's obvious she has been TRYING to quit and stay quit, which is more than a lot of women can say. I commend her for being as strong as she is in her journey. Addiction is hard. Good for you for quitting cold turkey. Not everyone is just like you.

We ALL know what smoking during pregnancy can do. We don't need quotes from some shotty website to tell us.

But..............You're a moron for saying that smoking is causing your baby to suffer and that pregnancy isn't about the mother. How would you know if a baby, in the womb, is suffering? What gives you that idea? Also, pregnancy has a lot to do with the mother.

OP asked for advice and tips. Not you to come and preach at her.

yeah but the way you phrased your words came off a bit harsh. im sure she knows along with anyone else that smoking during a pregnancy is bad. she seemed to ust be wondering why she was craving them more than she was before. it may have been your choice to quit cold turkey and not go back to it (and mad props to you for that by the way) but it is her choice that she hasn't fully quit and it still smoking a little here and there. i really don't see how people on here are being immature when they are backing her up when saying its rude of you to call her disgusting for still smoking. people aren't going to attack you on the forum unless they feel you've said something out of line. its one thing to have your opinion and inform someone, and its another for you to push them when they are already down.
