Quoting Samantha 27 weeks ♥:" Im planning on doing my test tomorrow after delaying it for the last 2 weeks.. I still get morning sickness ... [snip!] ... ladies had a bite to eat before doing the test and everything turned out fine?(obviously something with no sugar, if anything)"
My OB I could eat hard boiled eggs.
Ew. lmao.

I have GD right now and only thing i have to do is test my sugar 4x a day plus the carb diet. Also diabetes doesn't run in my family so anyone can get it. It's not as bad as the docs say. Just gotta control your diet and like the other ladies said, DO NOT EAT before you go in. Anything you eat or drink can affect the results.

When I was pregnant with my daughter.. I didn't have to fast for it and ate normal... still passed.. not sure if they all just use different stuff or what, but I didn't even find out I had to do it until I was at the drs office.

I have my glucose test on the 13th and on my drink I have instructions and it says " Drink within 5 minutes nothing else to eat or drink after drinking the glucose. You may eat and drink before drinking the drink, but if you should wait at least 1 hour after eating before drinking"
I kept reading everyone was told you fast so I thought it was weird I wasn't told to, I can't remember if I did with my first pregnancy but my nurse said I could eat something small like oatmeal or toast?

omg this brings back memories having to drink that vile drink YUK.
I had a routine appointment with midwife & found I had sugar in my urine & because diabetes runs on my mums side of the family I had to get tested.
I can't remember how far along I was with my daughter but I remember not being able to eat or drink anything in the morning until i'd been tested for GD. Went in had this vile drink & blood test done. My now ex partner decided to go for a breakfast & eat it right in front of me, trust me I wasn't very happy as I was really hungry & thirsty by then. we had to wait an hour & then go back for another blood test & then it turned out I never had GD.

Ive took the glucose tolerance test when I was not pregnant and they made me fast after midnight the day before. I have to take it at my next prenatal appt and I was told not to fast to eat breakfast but make it something not so sugary and not high in carbs and then after that water only.
Goodluck that drink is soooooo nasty.

Yeah i was told to fast for 10 hours but when i went in they never asked me if i had fasted or not and i thought that was kinda weird.. But everything went well and i didnt throw up

I think I'm the only one who didn't mind the drink, I craved Sunkist soda with my daughter and I got the orange drink for my glucose and thought it tasted similar and really liked it. Lol! I have the orange again for this test so I'm not dreading to drink it.

I just took my 1 hour glucose test, and my results were 165... The cut off was 139. Now I have to go back for the 3 hour test on Monday. I'm 23 weeks pregnant, does anyone know what they will do if I do have GD???

Taking mine next month for this pregnancy and my dr said I can eat something high in protein but to stay away from sugary foods, because right after I drink it I'm getting another ultrasound to check on baby and she doesnt want me to get sick from it.

Welcome! Wish I could remember more but we were pregnant at the same time so I cant remember anymore. I believe her dr had her keep a 'food journal' too so she woild know what she ate and what meal or snack it was
