Dh just sent me a message saying my BILs best friend committed suicide earlier  
Its such a huge shock. We never really talked but he was always around, and always kind.
He was only like 19 too  

I'm not religious but if you are or spiritual, I just ask that you keep him and my brother in your thoughts/prayers.

Suicide is so tragic, well sometimes it is. But its tragic for those in the aftermath. Im sorry for you and yours loss. **hugs**

It's weird, I have met this kid like 4 times, talked to him twice, and it still hits me hard because he was my practically brother's best friend I guess.

Its not really the thread for it, but I believe assisted suicide should be legal. Is suicide tragic for the 14 year old girl that has a bad breakup and thinks her life is over, and was only dating the guy a week? Yes, and if I hear that Id be sad over how the life was lost over something so silly.

But if someone was in so much mental anguish or had a debilitating sickness and they thought long and hard about what was wrong and would rather die than live in pain..... WHY do we force them to? If my child had cancer and was subjected to treatment after treatment and said "I want to be let go," Id wish there was a legal way for her to do it. Because a situation like that isnt tragic. The only tragedy is making someone stay alive for our own benefit.

I believe that to someone, every death is tragic.

I agree. I think its selfish to make someone stick around when all they've ever known is pain.
