If you don't want her using the gift card in that manner then you shouldn't give her one. Get actual presents. Otherwise it is her choice how to use. Whether or not we agree with how she uses it doesn't matter. She is an adult and its her choice.

I'm not the one giving it to her. Her family has been selected by a secret santa and he is giving them the card so they can buy gifts for their children. He called her and asked her what her kids wanted for Christmas. She told me she didn't feel comfortable telling him and that she told him she would rather have a gift card.

So instead of using it for her kids, as intended, she is using it to donate to other peoples kids.

I think it's sad that she is doing it but I also think its not anyone else place to tell her what to do with the cards, thats all.

Well said. It's her gift cards. Maybe she didn't WANT charity to begin with, so she's paying it forward. Either way it's none of your business OP.
