I hope im making enough money by then to pay the extra. But it's gonna pay a big chunk. Or at least get her started.

Ours collects money too depending on which stocks it plays...I think, my out husband is much more knowledgeable about this stuff

I only get a minimal amount back and a few years I've even had a tax bill due to HECS and how much I've earned   I'm so desperate to get back on track with savings next year.

Yes and no. I save all their bonds, which total at least 1000 a kid.

But Pats Dad puts aside money every month, enough for a full ride per child to a University by the time they are 18.

They do have state programs where you can pay current tuition now and when your child gets college age gets to go at the rate it was when you paid it 18 years ago.
But, if your child wants to go to college outside of the state, you're kind of smurfed.

not yet, we really need to put some money away, but we won't do one that is an actual school fund, we want them to be able to use the money for school, but if they get scholarships or something, they can use the money for whatever without penalty

We have her college fund ready to go. If I didn't my grandfather or my parents would have and that would have been embarrassing.

Yeah in michigan it's called MET. I guess they can go out of state cause I asked once but it doesn't cover all of it. Whatever. That's why we didn't do it. Plus we don't have the money to pay her tuition today haha. We're still paying our tuition

Honestly, I am going to encourage my children to go to a community college first to get their general ed done if they don't know what they want to do yet.

I dont care so much that they even GO to college, I just want them to do something they love and be able to make a decent living for themselves.

I am about to graduate from a community college with my RN with absolutely no debt, and make the same as someone who graduated from a 4 yr school... about $50,000 -$60,000 a year starting out.

I just want to be able to give them a little something to be able to start out with. They need to know how to work for what they want to

I didn't read all the pages, I shouldn't have said that. Just for me personally it bothers me when my family steps in.
