SAHM and a back up plan

posted 7th Dec
A girl i went to school with just posted this on FB i was wondering what do you ladies think.

Got in this huge argument why a woman should have her own bank account & a steady ass career & never depend on a man , married or not , smurf can happen . & these guys say they want the stay at home moms while they make the money , okay what happens if you cheat & bounce out & your girl is stuck with $10 in the bank . Married or not , I'm gunna be an independent girl with all MY smurf , my fat ass house , my fat ass bank account , there's no way ill drop everything for a guy hahah. He can join me , but won't depend on him!

Me personally SAHM or not you should always have some type of education/trade to fall back on.JUST IN CASE.Your husband finds someone younger and more attractive and decides to leave you and the kids.My parents taught me that. What this girl said on FB made a lot of drama between her friends.I some what agree with her but at the same time i can feel jealousy since her baby father did not want to support her anymore since she treated him bad hmm..Anyways D&D all opinions welcomed.

I think you should always have something to fall back on. I'm a SAHM, but I have Degree, so if I needed to work, I would and could.

I am the younger girl
J/k, kind of sorta

But on a serious note I think that women should be able to support themselves if needed if they are a SAHM because at anytime their man could up and leave them on their ass.

I think every sahm should have something to fall back on.

Because my husband is older a lot of things are in his name because it is cheaper, and we have signed documents saying that it comes to me if something were to happen.

I agree with you. That is the way my mom raised me up to be, but then I found myself in a abusive relationship and those morals went out the window. And from now on I will have my own money. I mean we can share a bank account but he has to realize that I want some money in my own, ya know?

I think women who have no skills and only know how to mother are really setting themselves up for a potential kick in the face, should anything happen. At least get an education.Besides that--- What happens when all the kids are in school-they stay home doing what exactly?

I am a homeschool mom, so I would definitely have to readjust to a "new normal". I don't sneak and hide money from my DH to stash away for whenever he decides to leave me, but I do take opportunities to make money and I do save up in my own account for whatever reason of my choosing.

This! I graduated in October and DD is in school, so since then, I've been on BG most of the day and looking online for a house and preparing paperwork for my big move. There's not much else to do.

Very well put ladies. You took it better than her friends on FB lol.IDK something irked me when she typed that just knowing she was a SAHM the first two years of her daughters life and she finally has a job at the local Casino and left her BD,she has the nerve the call SAHMs out.She hasn't been working a full month but she thinks she's Mrs.Independent.Still live with her daddy which pays her car and rent.Sooo basically this bitch is a hypocrite lol.

Oh, well that's different   but I do agree that a woman needs something to fall back on.

I for sure think that SAHM's should have a back up plan. While being at home they could easily go to school online and get a degree. I was a SAHM while pregnant with our youngest due to being laid off (damn budget cuts always cut Spec Ed funding first) and half way through my pregnancy DH and I separated for a while. I was extremely glad that I have an education and was easily able to get a job. It's never bad to have a back up plan and then a back up back up plan.

'm a SAHM and I don't really have a back up plan other than my diploma. I think it's good to have though and I'm planning to go to school as soon as I get money and a chance to, but I'm not too worried about SO leaving me.

At least you got a diploma. Some dont and dont even care to get one.I actually have more education than SO...He's 2 classes away from graduating and has one semester of welding...He's also 24.But he's the manager at the job he's been at for 3 years making good money..While I'm 21,finished school,Did medical assisting courses, the only thing i had to do was get certified by doing the state test,Decided it was not for me.So I'm currently doing Medical coding and claims,It kind of easy so far since I'm in the medical terminology part since medical assisting started off the same way.I'm also just got back working making way less than SO.....So i guess some situations it doesn't matter.
