Some of you may have heard about this story, but I just want to see peoples personal opinions....

A couple adopts three children, the father is in the military and gets deployed. While he is gone the mother begins to abuse the kids, starving them, beating them, locking them in toolboxes and rooms etc. The husband gets home from deployment and a week later CPS comes takes the kids away. The mother is charged with three counts child abuse and the father is charged with misdemeanor child abuse...

Do you agree that he should be charged also?

I guess it depends on whether or not the abuse continued in that week he was home and whether he knew about it or not. Does it mention anything about that?

Well did he call CPS in that week or did someone else?

Cos if didn;t know what was going on but came back and didn't do anything then yeah he's at fault too. But if he is the one that called CPS then no he shouldn't be charged unless he was aware of what was going on

Did he know about it?

Was he aware it was happening? Did it continue when he got back? If not, then no.

Where the children still being abused while he was there? Did he witness the abuse? Did he know about any of the abuse and neglect to call authorities?

Too many things about the case that we are unaware of.

no. I agree that he has some responsibility since theyre his kids too.. but he was deployed. If he didnt know it was happening, how could he have stopped it?

Only if he saw it and did nothing

He did not witness abuse or know about it, he was told that the smallest child had anorexia and that why he hadn't been eating. He said that he didn't know until he asked his children.

CPS had been called several times while he was deployed (over a 14 month period) it wasn't until he got home that they showed up.

If he knew nothing about it and didn't witness it, then no, I don't think he should be charged. It sounds like they showed up one day and he learned all of this. I'd be beyond pissed at my Spouse.

if he knew about it, yes. but if he was deployed i highly doubt he knew. no i would just say no.

No, he's deployed there is no way that he would have known that was going on unless she said something which appears she didn't just say hey honey I'm abusing the kids!

IF he knew about it, certainly.

But since he was deployed and under the assumption the woman wasn't enough of a dumbass to be like "Hey Baby, I locked Billy in the toolbox because he backtalked me" - I am going to assume he did not know and should not be charged.

God, I would feel smurfing awful if I came home to that smurf.
