At my wits end!

posted 7th Dec
I have posted too many times about my 3 1/2 year old's cough. She had 3 colds back to back since August and since her last cold in October she has had a cough she can't shake.

I took her to the pedi and he said she had bronchitis and the beginnings of walking pneumonia. He put her on 10 days of Amoxicillin. She's been off the meds since yesterday but is still coughing.

Now, this isn't a persistent cough. She coughs about an hour after falling asleep for a minute or two and an hour after waking. She coughs once or twice in between and she's fine other wise. No fevers, still eating normally, etc.

I don't know what to do or think. Is the pneumonia gone or is it still there? Is it still a bad cold? I don't get it at all. It's been 8 weeks now.

My son had a persistent cough for months. It would come and go but never fully stop. He was always diagnosed with tonsillitis though. He just got his tonsils removed Tuesday and no more cough!

I had a nasty cold last month with a cough that held on for like 3 weeks...but it only bothered me at night. As soon as I'd lay down, I'd start hacking uncontrollably.

Is it a dry cough or wet sounding?

My son had that (chronic cough, ear infections & pneumonias) when he was 2 1/2. They diagnosed him with tonsillitis which was causing all these problems. His tonsils wouldn't go back to normal size so they took them out. He's now 10 and has hardly ever been sick since!

It varies. One minute it sounds wet, the next dry. The Dr said her chest had mucus in it. She did spit some out around day 3 of the antibiotcs.
