Here it is considered a cosmetic surgery. If this baby is a boy we'll have to put $650 to the side to pay for it.

That's nuts.

I had my name as Supah Hookah (super hooker) for the longest time before I found out a hookah is something used to smoke pot   lol

Like everyone else said it's not medically necessary. Please do some research.

Quoting KShorter:" We paid $200 out of pocket for each of our son's to be circumsized. It is considered a "cosmetic procedure", ... [snip!] ... then i suggest getting it done at the Dr's office. Most Dr's office's charge less IF you pay on the day the procudure is done."

My medicaid covered our sons circumcision. I think it depends on the state.

Haven't heard that its not being covered. Something I'll need to look into before my baby boy is born! We did it with our first and it was covered.

I don't think it is covered in CA. That's what my OB told me.

Ok well they said in some cases they would have to do it because of problems that the skin is to tight and having the extra skin there is causing infactions that thats the medical reasons to remove it. My husband feels it is best to have it removed hes the one with it I dont have one.

And as for the person saying do research I'll learn a lot I dont feel as tho I need to. People have their own opinions and mine is to have my kids circumcised, I feel its cleaner and better for someone, the same with my husband.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure when I lived in Iowa it was covered there because I remember thinking how ridiculous it was.

OP, do some research. It's a cosmetic procedure.

As far as I know, it's not covered here. I asked my OB and he said some doctors won't even do it.

I was at the hospital in the waiting room and saw a woman pay a doctor right there infront of everyone.

Don't let anyone here discourage you if it's what you and your husband have decided. If you look it up on the AAP and CDC websites, you'll find that they say it's more beneficial to have done than not. So while everyone wants to worry about their own widdle feelings and foreskins, you have to do what is right for your family.
