You only make minimum wage taking the photos of new babies?

I really don't know much about that type of job, but are you contracted out or is it freelance work?

That is one of the beauties of marital partnership. I hope business picks up for you soon and you get LOTS of great experience and make boatloads of money.

Contracted. I did freelance for a looooooonnnnng time for extra cash, but most major hospitals won't allow freelancers into that kind of field for safety concerns. It's a fun job, but in our current consumer market, it's not a good paying job.

It's never been this bad. Usually, i have 1 or 2 slow payers. This situation is ridicluous! I knew i was taking a big risk with one couple but i was happy to as i can USUALLY afford to do so.
I'm going to have to borrow money from my husband... I'll be "working it off" later lol.

Haha, so you do the landlord stuff without your husband's help, usually?

I would LOVE that job...mostly to see the new babies all the time. I'm a terrible photographer

Do you take photos for friends and family and charge them?

It's an amazing experience.

And it depends on their financial situation. I've done free sessions for my really strapped friends because I just want them to have beautiful first photos since our babies change so quickly.

If the government stayed out of businesses, we would be seeing a lot of employers grossly under-paying and abusing their workers. We would have professionals making ten bucks an hour and a new form of indentured servitude in this country.

And trickle down economy is a joke. The rich are getting richer and the poor are getting poorer. But as long as the rich get their tax cuts, who gives a smurf?

Oh, I meant for photos not in the newborn stage. Or do you only do newborn photos? I always try to hire a friend or family member to take family photos because I'd rather they get money than some big box store.

Why aren't professionals getting paid $10 per hour right now? It's not against the law.

Oh but some are or are getting grossly underpaid for their work.

I work at two hospitals. One is private and the other is state funded. I get paid WAY more at the state funded job and the benefits are top notch. The other hospital is looking to pay professionals' pay, the benefits are crap and because of financial issues they have discontinued retirement matches for year. Not so at the other place!

what tax cuts?

I've asked many times on BG for someone to explain how "bottom up" or middle-out economics works. Nobody has been able to show how all classes improve. or at least stay healthy.

Employers pay what they need to. MANY employers dont have any min wage employees. Relative to the entire working population, there are few min wage recipients.
