Gone.

I think there should. The only moms on my FB that I've seen hook their children up properly in their seat are BG moms. "/

I don't know if I think there should be a class required, but I think that there should be stricter laws/punishments on car seat safety. I mean, even the sheriff's deputy of my county started front facing his daughter at 6 months. He says they DO NOT ticket people for car seats at all.
quoteposted 7th Dec
No but I agree on tougher laws.
I HB and I'm not watching a video right after birth on proper car seating.

Mandatory class I think so as it is a concern. I have always been up on safety and how to strap baby in so I didn't take a course. It is common sense that you buckle your child in properly. But there is also manuals with the car seats that tell you how to properly use the car seat. More people need to take the time to educate themselves.

I agree. Some people just don't know anything about alot of things lol as broad as that sounds. Education is key to pretty much everything. A nurse should bring up all of this stuff to the parents and give them pamphlets or whatever to help educate.

I have quite a few BG moms on my FB. Surprisingly, only a few of them have their kids in the seat safely.
Even for "short trips" they should know better....or at least I think they should :/

I think I know a little about car seat safety, but I wouldnt mind if I had to watch a video on it. Whatever will helo me become a more informed parent.

Agreed!

The hospitals here show you how to do it when you're getting discharged and don't let you leave unless someone checks the car seat all the way down to the car lol so they make sure every aspect is correct

I think they should have some sort or education before they take LO home. Some moms do just rush and throw them in so they can get going, but others don't know how to properly put their LO in the seat.

Isnt there a stat saying most accidents happen less than 5 miles from home or something like that? That is always in the back of my mind anyway.

It was mandatory at my hospital to watch a video on shaken baby syndrome. It was a 45 minute video. I have to watch it again when I have this baby.

Mine too. Like one girl posted her picture today and the caption was "don't worry about his straps we only drove 10 minutes"
SERIOUSLY?!
quoteposted 7th Dec
Yeah there needs to be something. I didnt know anything about car seat safety when I had my first and probably wouldnt know as much about it if it wasnt for BG. I'm always posting car seat safety stuff on my FB for people who always have their kids strapped in wrong and most never listen to it
