When the weather is cold here, I layer him and put him in a fleece type jacket to keep him warm and carry him out in a nice, thick blanket. If need be, I will put his heavy jacket on him backwards in the carseat, but it wouldnt be necessary because I warm the car up if it is like that. It isnt going to kill him to be a little cold going to and from the car. It might kill him if he wears a thick ass coat in his seat...so ...yeah.

I do think that before you are aloud to bring the baby home, they should make sure he/she is in the carseat right and give you a pamphlet or something. They didn't check DD's seat.

Theres one girl who uses for an excuse "my child throws up all the time so I had to FF".....that's not an excuse! Keep on RFing.

That's exactly what I'm going to do with DD and DS with their seats.I want them RF as long as poasible

People are so stupid. I get smurf from people about my 4 year old son being in a 5 point harness. He's a big kid (44-45 inches tall and 42 lbs), so the "my kid is too big" line is a crock.

I wasn't sure if they did it because it was nicu procedure or hospital procedure. I'm really happy they did though I had no idea how to adjust the straps all the was down as small as it needed to be and get them to stay like that.

This, too! At least someone to make sure your baby is in right.

It is! And people are!
I was a nanny for a family and their DD was so tiny (Wight and height wise) she was RF past age 4. She crisscrossed her legs and she was fine with it!

That's awesome!
I'll invest in another car seat soon that will take us up to 75 lbs. My poor son wants to ride the bus when he starts school next year & I keep telling him that it isn't safe and nothing good ever happens on the bus. lol
I plan to take him and pick him up everyday!

What are you talking about?

I may never experience -50...but I did live in Wisconsin and Germany for a long while. I would do the same there as I would living here. The risks of a car accident is greater than LO being cold for a minute while I put him in his carseat. Fleece jacket, blanket, hat, and mittens would do him just fine.

So your kids wear jackets while in their carseats?

you said you layer him, theoretically isn't that just as bad as jacket because those layers of clothing could also be compressed?

Whatever I still don't believe if you were in the situation. Everyone that I know that has kids and lives in Canada buckles their kids in in full winter gear.
