Autistic christmas

posted 7th Dec
My dd is four almost five and we just recently got the diagnosis of her being autistic. I'm having a hard time finding something for her for Christmas that she will truly enjoy.... Anyone have any ideas?

What does she like?

Get her something she will like, regardless of her diagnosis

OP Being Autistic doesn't mean all autistic kids are the same. They all have different interests.

My brother's autistic, severely. Growing up he used to love things that stimulated the senses. A brush to scratch his arms with. Some sort of material (like a scarf like thing) that would make different noises when brushed up against different kinds of surfaces. In general, for my brother at least, anything that make one of his senses more active. He also, still to this day, love's the original Sonic the Hedgehog game and the original Mario Bros game. Simple, only requiring movement and one button to jump.

The only thing she really likes is her baby dolls and she has a bunch of them already that's why it's. Hard plus I'm wanting to try to get something that will help developmentally

If she loves dolls, what about getting some different kinds of stuff (doll house) that can enable her to have her dolls 'interact' with each other (with your help of course). If she's learns interaction through her interaction with you through the dolls it could be a good area to learn some communication skills.
