Mamas who had implanon or IUD

posted 7th Dec
I'm getting my Implanon out in January (waiting on insurance to start back up) and I have a few questions about the after-effects of the removal. How hard do you "crash" and what happens? How long did you go through that "crash"? And also, just out of curiosity, did any of you lose weight or become able to lose weight with diet and exercise any easier? I know I'll be switching to a low hormone pill, but I will talk to my OB before I decide which pill will be right for me.

I didn't feel any different, well apart from the fact that I didn't have a period non-stop, so it was all positives for me.
I put on a little weight I guess but I think that was mainly bloat from being on my period non-stop.

I swear, I'm constantly bloated right now.   I hate it. So you didn't go through that "crash" period?

When I had my Mirena it, it drained me. I was tired, bled during and after sex, had cramping all the time, had nausea, mood swings, lightheadedness and dizziness, and all kinds of smurf, plus weight problems because I was always hungry.

Had it removed 2 weeks ago. First 3 days were HELL. My body crashed, I was sweating, cold, shaky, moody, tired.... then around day 4, it evened itself out somewhat. By day 6, I felt GREAT. And I've felt great ever since! I went back on my old birth control pills that I took from age 15 until 23, and have had NO issues with.

Did you stop having that constant eating urge after the removal? I know that's my current problem. I eat fruit like crazy trying to be healthy, but all that sugar that's in fruit...   I'm probably not doing myself any better than eating junk eating as much fruit as I do.

No but I started taking the pill about a week beforehand so that I would be covered straight away when it was out.

I didn't know you could do that!   Did you go low hormone or just regular 'ol pill?

Once the Mirena was out, I stopped having the munchies. I eat maybe once or twice a day at best now.

Awesome! Maybe it will help me lose weight and stop feeling pregnant.

Regular combined pill!
A couple of people I know actually took the pill alongside with the implant. The pill was to regulate their periods, but if they were crappy with taking it the implant would be there as a back up.

I just had my implanon removed after having it 2 1/2 years. I really didn't have any problems that I can link specific to the Implanon but I tell you guys my journey with it. After having the Implanon implanted I didn't get a cycle until about month 4 which I bleed I think for 3 weeks. (Being that I was working in a compounding pharmacy I think it was really related to the hormones I was dealing with). Didn't have another one for a while. I then started to get them after about 9 months having the Implanon every other month mayber two months sometimes it would be heavier then others but I would then go 3 to 4 months with no cycle at all so the pattern was on 3 months for about a week or two then off 3 to 4 months. I did have a month that I bleed straight and I went to the dr, which they gave me some birth control pills to take to stop the bleeding which worked instantley. I did have severe migraines but when I went to my PC it was determained that they were b/c I had a very bad sinius infection. But I had bad migraines before implanon and although they are not as bad now I still get them so I don't think they are from the Implanon but my GYN did tell me to go to my PC and have him look at it again. The reason I had to have the Implanon removed is b/c I gained 30lbs in two years and my Dr decided that it's not worth the risk b/c now that i'm 5'4 144lbs I'm at risk for diabetes which two years ago I only weighed 110lb even after 3 children. So I had it removed yesterday (12/12/12) and honestly I didn't have any problems with it. My doctor Numbed the upper part of my arm (which was the worst part b/c I could have sworn he started to take it out before numbing me up) and after about 10 min he started working on removing the Implanon. I only felt a little tugging and heard snipping. Now it's starting to itch but I can't take the bandage off just yet so I don't know how it looks under it. It only hurts close to the incision I can do my normal duties with no problem. I feel bad for the ladies that had a bad experience with the Implanon and after reading so many hororr stories of others I kinda got scared before I went in yesterday. So I feel like I need to post my experience.
