Induecing Monday

posted 7th Dec
I m 39 week by monday. Im 3cm and 70% defaced. Thay want to induce me because the baby is sitting on a nerve that makes it almost impossible to walk safely. will it hurt when worse when they induce me ? should i just try to wait it out ?

Is there any position to lay to get the pressure off the nerve? I would induce so soon. But it's up to you.

Yes it will hurt more than natural labor, yes you should wait. It's probably your sciatic nerve, if I were you I would wait. You can be pregnant forever and the nerve trouble will be released as soon as baby arrives.

Statistically you are highly likely to end up with an emergency c-section if you choose to be induced so early. And due dates are just estimates, you could only be 37 weeks. I wouldn't do it.

If you feel you're endangering yourself because you can't walk safely then Its really your choice. But just remember as someone else said it does put you at an jncreased risk of unecessary csection and your baby might not be fully developed because your dd could be off by up to 2 weeks.

I too had HORRIBLE sciatic nerve pain due to my little one resting on it wrong. At 39 weeks I wouldn't recommend it (as due dates can be off by weeks in both directions).
That said... I was induced at 40 weeks and I didn't progress until they broke my water (I was only 2 cm pre-water breaking). I was in labor for 35 hours, and took the epidural so I could get some sleep. I had a vaginal birth and she was perfectly healthy.
The reasons not to do it: 1-due date could be off, 2-long labor, 3-stuck in bed with my IV for 35 hours
Reason to do it: 1-not living in horrible pain for more weeks, 2-You are technically full-term

I would ask the doctor:
1- What are your measurements right now in terms of cm/effacement? The better your measurements the better your changes of not having to have a c-section. If your numbers aren't good the higher your chances of c-section.
2-How will they manage your pain should you have to be in bed for several hours?
3-How long will they give you to progress before breaking your water?

Oh my! 3 days? I loved my epi and called the doc who did it Doctor Feel Good. I really don't think the thing they insert to help dialate works. Everyone I know hasn't progressed until after they break the water. No epid you are my super hero!
