I didn't take folic acid and my baby turned out just fine

Try not to stess over it, if you are feeling fine and your check ups are going well then things should be fine. Like you said our parents went without it and we are still here Chin up!!1

I never could take prenatals, folic acid, yada yada. It made me incredibly sick.I instead tried to eat very healthy and get my nutrients from the source.

so glad that doctors go to school and do their internships for greater then 10 years to know NOTHING... wish I could be in school that long and not learn a thing

I didn't take it for a long time because I was too sick to my stomach and couldn't keep anything down. My LO came out perfectly healthy.

Me either.

I was worried when I found out because I felt like I found out late, 10 weeks, and the next day I was 11 weeks. So 11 weeks I was taking 5 hour energy shots. Come to find out those have b6 b12 and 400 (mg or %) of your daily folic acid. SCARED ME so bad because the bottle say's not to drink while pregnant or breastfeeding. And I'm 31 weeks and baby is fine. I haven't been able to remember. Or keep down my prenatal's for a few weeks now. I'm 31 weeks and baby is still fine. Folic acid is supposed to help with spinal development and whatnot not. But honestly like you said women never had this information or these vitamins when we were all being made. baby should be fine. Prenatal's from what I've heard are to replace what baby is taking from us. so they're mostly for us. And to make sure we have them. I took them from day one up until a few weeks ago, and I'm still anemic, and lacking vitamins. :/

I never took any with all 3 of my kids, no prenatals for me at all. lol

Unless you have a folic acid deficiency, your baby should be fine. I HAVE to take it or my baby will die. But folic acid is most important during the first 9 weeks when brain and spinal cord are forming.

I Faithfully take my prenatals during my pregnancies and when I' am not pregnat. It is crucial even for women trying to conceive!
quoteposted 7th Dec
I take my prenatals daily now, but I went the first few months without them. Now I'm carrying a big, healthy baby boy. Don't stress, mama. That's worse for your LO than not having vitamins.

my mother had 5 healthy babies and never took prenatals, I have puked for 9 months both pregnancies and prenatals just made it all worse, so I stoppped taking them after 12 weeks my first pregnancy and didn't take them this pregnancy every day... your baby will be fine!! don't worry!

So glad I came across this thread. I was taking my prenatals but it would be like every 2 or 3 days, and now I don't take them at all coz I have the worst pregnancy brain and simply just forget.
I've been so worried and having all these crazy thoughts about how my baby is going to be born with problems because of me not taking the pills.
You have all put my mind at ease
