What do you eat during the day (especially SAHMs)
posted 7th Dec
Seriously help! I've been staying home with my 2yo full time for about 9 months and I've put on 5kgs!!! I've just developed a horrible habit of boredom eating and all day snacking. I have kinda weird tastes and don't like alot of things. I really want some heathy filling meals I can make quickly that won't stack on the kilos. I work out a couple of times a week (on top of the physical activity that comes with parenting a toddler) but could be doing more. I was always thin until pregnancy, I gained 20kgs while carrying him and my weight has just fluctuated ever since. I've lost it all once and am now putting it back on again. I just really want to get my horrible eating habits under control but they are lifelong habits that are only now affecting me and I don't know where to start!! Any help would be great, meal suggestions even better. To clarify I'm not asking for a weight loss cure, just some ideas on what other SAHM eat during the day to stop the snacking/boredom eating. Thanks ladies!!
PS I'm new here so I would love to get to know some people better, open to friend requests/messages

Salads, veggies, crackers, a sandwich or nothing at all. Pretty much healthy stuff I can eat with one hand since LO is attached to me.

Cereal or oatmeal in the morning. Sometimes pancakes or waffles. Then for lunch, we'll have like soup, mac & cheese, Hamburger Helper, hambergers or grilled sandwiches or spaghetti. Nothing big.Dinner I'll actually prepare a dish. Sometimes, we'll order Chinese, get take out from a restaurant or order pizza for lunch or dinner (although not that often for dinner.)

I make a fresh citrus juice in warm water and green tea when I wake up: orange, lemon and/or orange juice. A little later I eat fresh fruit and some turkey bacon. Sometimes i have an omlet with spinach, tomatoes, peppers, cheese and turkey. I snack on nuts and seeds or peanut/almond butter on fruit. I eat a salad with spinach, kale, chard, tomatoes, carrots, sunflower seeds, almonds, pecans, apples, strawberries, celery, broccoli, sometimes cheese and a vingerette dressing. Sometimes I had turkey or chicken grilled or baked. I make bone broths a lot from the carcasses of the chickens or turkeys. I use my crick pot. I make fresh soups out of that and cook my beans in it too. My I snack on raw veggies and hummus. For dinner it is normally beans cooked with bones or bone broth or some baked/grilled turkey/chicken/fish and 2 to 3 steamed or baked veggies. I drink a fresh veggies and fruit smoothie daily. As a snack I make fresh juice with combinations of carrots, celery, apple, beets, ginger, cabbage, kale, spinach and more. I cheat once a day with something not healthy. I drink water, coconut or almond milk and sometimes kombucha. I eat quinoa and brown rice as my starches and sometimes red or sweet potatoes. When I need fats I cook with olive oil or eat coconut oil or avacados.
Some meal ideas are:
Egg white omelets with onion/garlic powder and fresh veggies. Fresh citrus juices self squeezed. Grapefruit helps with weight loss and half is great for breakfast with fresh squuezed orange juice. A small oatmeal with fresh

Fruits ans cinamin is good.
Seesaw, nuts and dehydrated fruits are great as snacks. Almond butter or peanut butter on fruit or cheese on pears ans apples is good. Fresh raw veggies in a light dressing or hummus is good. Salads can be made all kinds of ways just watch the bread and dressing. Use lean meats or fish. Try to eat two green veggies for dinner. Lettuce wraps can be used instead of bread and can be filled with tuna, salmon, chicken, turkey, cucumbers, spinach, carrots, cheese, celery, olives, pickles, avacado, tomatoes and eatten like wraps. They are great for late night snacks. Also changing your drinking habits to 90% water and limiting cow milk, juice(even fresh squeezed) ans sodas will help a lot. I use zucchini slices for pasta noodles and cauliflower, eggs and cheese as pizza dough or bread and it is so good. I peel/slice veggies and douse in olive oil and sea salt and make veggie chips. I make fresh applesauce. Or pear sauce.
