I can't shower every single day or else I break out, despite having really dry skin. I usually go no more than the every other day routine, too. Dh makes fun of me in front of his family and me all the time because of it even though he knows why and knows I'm a very clean person. Way back in the day even the queen only bathed 3-4 times a YEAR!

Oh wow! I definitely would feel disgusting if I only bathed a few times a year!
Since I bathe every other day, on the days I don't bathe I take "whore baths"- wash armpits and crotch area. Don't ask me where I learned that term lmao.
And that sucks your DH makes fun of you in front of his family. I'd smack him haha A lot of people can't bathe everyday due to skin issues- me included. My skin gets too dry. Especially my face. It's very sensitive. I have special cream I have to put on my face in the winter due to dryness. It's annoying!

If I shower every day my skin dries out really bad and im all ashy for a while. I've gone 4-6 days without showering. I don't do anything to get dirty besides clean the house. If I go that long without a shower, I stay in there forever!! It also has to due with not wanting anything on my hands especially water! it freaks me out. I wash my armpits and feet and use hand sanitizer(sp). and I wash my hair every other day with gloves on :/ The longest I have gone is 2 weeks. That was camping and coming home and i felt soooo nasty

Fun fact. Er from what I can remember. May not be exact, it's been a while since I researched it. Back in the old days *medieval times? For the poor, the most popular time to bathe was one day in April because it was the most popular month to get married in. I think that period of time in history they only really bathed once a year. That's where they got the term "Don't throw the baby out with the bath water". Families would haul buckets of water up to their house where their "bathtub" was in the yard. The man of the house would bathe first, then the sons, then the women and the babies would be bathed last. By the time the babies got bathed, the water would be solid black where if the baby were to go under the water, you would not see it. I may not remember that info 100% accurately, so I apologize if any of it is wrong.

thats what i was thinking as i read that. if you think logically, the man would bathe last i'd think. they usually get the nastiest. with working to provide for the family and all.

Right after my daughter was born (now 2), all I did was sleep. It has a tough labor and I wasn't exactly prepared for a baby, so I ended up getting PPD really bad. I think I went like a week before my mom actually made me get out of bed and take one.
The most recent time I didn't shower for a couple days was because I was in the hospital for kidney stones like a week before my water broke. I was in too much pain to even get up to go to the restroom, although I was forced to do so. I think that was a total of four days?

Keep in mind, at that time in history it was all about the men. They got to eat first, and got the most to eat, they were put before anyone in the house. They made all the rules and the women and children were to keep their mouths shut and follow them.
