HELP!!!!

posted 6th Dec
My daughter is 13 months old. I took her temp 5 hours ago and it was 101.0 so i gave her some motrin. An hour or so after i gave her the motrin it went down to 100.1. She has been sleeping for about 3 hours and i felt her and she was burning up and her temp is 103.4. What should I do. I don't want to rush to the ER if i don't have to.

If it is 103 you need to go to the ER.

You don't need to go to the ER.

Alternative Tylenol and Motrin every 3 hours, and give her a lukewarm bath if she is awake. Don't bundle her up in blankets. Keep her hydrated, and keep an eye on her. 103.4 is not a dangerous temperature.

Usually as long as it goes down with meds it's fine. Plus you don't usually need I go ER unless its 104 and won't go down unless you suspect infection. The haopital is only gonna give Tylenol and Motrin and monitor.

Do you have Tylenol? You can do both motrin and Tylenol just make sure you follow their time guidelines for the next dose. They can be given at the same time though. This might help make up for the cour hours of time between when Motrin is giving out and when she can have the next dose.

I don't have any tylenol. But I gave her the motrin about 4 hours ago so i dont see why her temperature would go that high so quick since she had meds.

More common then you think. DD had a virus a few weeks ago and her fever got up to 104 and would only go down for 2 hours then go right back up.

It isn't as effective the whole time before you can give another dose, which is why the alternating.

Fevers can often behave that way.

I was told by my DS doctor anything over 102 needs to be seen right away. So I would take her.
