Lol, how was what she said bad? Everyone knows the story is that you get coal when you misbehave. If that's the "story" they're going for then how was that bad? If anything it went along with the story and was probably the best way to handle the situation without causing a huge fight in front of their kids

I hope so. As of now it seems that my explanation was fine, but man oh man. I'm a little peeved. I was ignoring him not a word and he finally figured out why. I'm letting it go though. He's back on board and if he pulls this smurf again, not sure how I'll keep my cool.

I would've said Santa is real but Daddy never believed so he never got any presents

What does that have to do with the price of rice in china exactly? He essentially told the kids Santa, who is like it or not a childhood hero for kids around the world, isn't real...so he wouldn't have to hear about it anymore. She could have just left it alone and ruined it for the kids.
Poor daddy. His kids think he was naughty and Santa gave him coal! How tragic!!

Also, Santa is not a "childhood hero" to ALL children....you are making a really sweeping generalization. Most of the world doesn't celebrate Christmas the same way you do....
