A little irritated
posted 6th Dec
DH was the primary bread maker for a while. He lost his job so now the roles have changed. Back when he did work sometimes when he came home he would take DS and let me sleep again. This was when DS was a new born so up every 3 hours if not more. Now DS is a little over 6 months wakes up maybe once a night if at all. I come home from working almost 10 hours as a CNA so I was tired as smurf. The past 2 days he has been working as an on call helper for UPS (gets 4 hours tops) he complained about being so tired and needed to rest for work so I let him sleep. Finally after a few hours DS goes down for a nap so I finally get to go to bed. After 3 hours of sleeping DH comes in and ask when I am getting up. I ask for a few more hours since I have to work again tonight. Then he tells me he didn't get called in so him DS and his sister (she lives with us) are going to our friends daughters birthday party which I would have loved to have gone. I wish he would have let me sleep once I got home so I could have gone too. Am I being unreasonable in being a little irritated?

Meh, we don't do naps in my house, usualy. It is very rare.
If you wanted to go you should have gotten up and gone. I will not hold off my plans because SO wants to stay home and sleep. He can get his ass up if he wants to go or stay at home.

Well it wasn't a nap it was my nights sleep I work nights it was a nap for him. If I had gotten more than 3 hours I would have gotten up and gone but I knew I couldn't function at work with only 3 hours.

I just want to say amen to you for being a CNA on the night shift. While I was working through college I worked the 11-7 shift then went to class at 8, got home by like`4 with all my classes the slept till work. It almost killed me. I can not imagine trying to take care of a little one while doing that. Tuff Tuff job and I did it for 4 years. I'm thankful for the CNAs who take care of or loved ones.

My dad is an M.D. and even though I love my job and make good money I sometimes regret not going ahead and sticking to nursing. You will never be without a job, decent to great pay, and I think it takes a good person with a good heart to be a great nurse. Good luck thats a great accomplishment to achieve.

Thank you! I cannot wait to be done with school. It is a great career move for me and my family. Working as a CNA is hard work, I work in a senior home but most of the residents really are a joy to be around. Working as a CNA really helped me realize that the medical field was the right place for me.
