Miscarriage?

posted 6th Dec
So I am curious, I am about 8 weeks pregnant and I had a level 1 ultrasound today, and the Dr said that he couldn't tell if my baby had a heart beat or if it was just my pulse... he also said he wasn't sure if the baby's yolk sack was visible which it should be by now, my morning sickness has been progressively worse by the day but he said that the baby measured a week smaller than what we thought it was... so any ladies know if the chance of my baby still being alive is there?
He did order for me to get blood work done today and then again on Monday to see what the levels are, my question is should i be getting worse morning sickness if I am loosing this baby?? or does that mean that maybe there is still hope?

I had this happen to me but i was a little further along when I had my u/s I was 12 weeks and baby was only around the size of a 9 weeker I still had pregnancy symptoms right up till after i had my DnC there was no detectable heart beat so I really hope that your's is ok.
Best of luck.

You could have ovulated late which would account for measuring small. As far as not seeing the hb, even with a transvaginal u/s you may not see a hb at 7ish weeks, especially if the tech's not skilled.

The blood work is the best option. If your initial draw is over 6500, don't be surprised is the number doesn't double by Monday, as long as it goes up that's good (over 6500 levels take longer to rise, I didn't know that before this baby).

I've never had m/s so I can't comment on that but when I had my m/c my boobs stopped hurting the day my m/c started, my other 3 pg (this one included) my boobs have been sore well into the 2nd tri)

When I had my miscarriage, my pregnancy symptoms were all still there. They didn't go away until a day or two after I stopped bleeding.

I didn't bleed i had no symptoms of having a loss at all. I had no idea that anything was wrong until my 12 week u/s I didn't pass my baby I had to have a dnc.

Early pregnancy is tricky. Going by the date of your last period isn't always that accurate. I've been off by 2 weeks (2 weeks earlier) with 2 of my pregnancies. That normally meant i had at least one questionable U/S where they didn't find what they expected to find. My opinion is that you try to let it go until you see the second U/S and get a better answer of what's going on in there.

I thought I was 12 weeks pregnant and started bleeding the blood results were showing I was pregnant but the ultrasound showed no heartbeat and the baby at 6 weeks and something about a yolk sack should be appearant but it was not. They kept asking if I was sure I was 12 weeks because I was measuring less then that but no one would give me any exact information and I reassured them that my pregnancy was confirmed at 4 weeks by my dr. My blood results were still high the next day until I passed out and nearly bled to death in my bathroom because the drs didnt know what they were doing and sent me home... Then I become severely anemic which I have to deal with this pregnancy.

So I would suggest talking to a different dr and resting.

Thank you every one for your input & for sharing your previous experiences, I went to the ER last night after posting this because I was a little wigged out & worried that the first Dr. was sure, and I had the ER check, the ultrasound technition was great and told me that see doesn't understand why the Dr would have told me what he did and that the baby is just fine, the yolk sack was there and visible and the heart beat was present. (: Altho she did say that the baby measured off so I must have ovulated off normal because I am 2 weeks less than I am based off my LMP
