Weight loss & Breast feeding

posted 6th Dec
So I am 7 months PP. I have been breastfeeding since birth and I have actually put on weight. I was 175 when I gave birth to my son, and went down to 165 after he was born. I've gone back up to 175lbs since then. Before any of my kids I was 115lbs and I am really ashamed of the body I am in, however I have a really hard time curbing my constant food-cravings.

My question is, if I want to lose weight how many calories should I be eating if I am breastfeeding. I know I need more than normal since I am feeding him.

What else can I do?

I really want to work out, but I can't because my husband works evenings and I don't have anyone to take the kids. I want to do a work out DVD, but by the time I get them to bed and they clean all the toys off of the living room floor, I'm ready to crash. In fact, most times I fall asleep nursing LO to sleep. Hah. So I really want to just focus on what I'm eating for now!

I am almost 5 months PP. I started at close to 170 when DS2 was born. I am 140 right now and have another 20 to lose to be where I was when DH and I got together July 2009(was 130 before I got pregnant with my first because I stopped working out and was eating a lot of junk)). I have an xbox so I started following along with Zumba videos on youtube yesterday. I only last about 15min right now because I haven't done much of anything other than walking the past few years.

As for food I snack a lot during the day and just limit junk food and drink lots of water. Well only water for the most part though I have started drinking green tea once a day. I don't count calories, just choose healthy foods and not eat junk

Do you use My fitness pal? I had the same problem when I BF my oldest, I gained. With my youngest I've lost 30 pounds since using MFP and I'm still breastfeeding. I'm 157 currently and trying to get back to 112-120 range. I consume about 1450 calories a day. There is no option for BF mothers but eating 1450 calories a day hasn't lowered my supply any. They say BF mothers need 1700-1800 calories a day but for me that is way too much. Whatever calories they give you, you could increase it by 100-200 and you should do fine.

*And I did minimal working out also. Working out is important but I don't have the time really.

i think it may be about 1800 calories a day.
Cleaning burns calories, get that sweeping/vacumming happening ...... 10 minute solution dvds, there broken down into 10 min segments surely youd be able to fit that in somewhere.
Im not sure how many kids you may have but i walk with a lady every morning with my bubba, i also see another lady with a double jogging stroller walk as well.
IS there a fitness group in you area where you could take your kids along too, in my area i see mums rockin up with there kiddo and someine watches them while a PT get you exercising, i know of another fitness group where all the exercises you do involves the kids as well, good luck

I have three. I can put two in the jogger but our walking track is hilly and my daughter is over 40 pounds. Its hard. Plus my 4 year old is too big for the jogger and wouldn't fit anyways so hr has to walk. Hr complains the whole time about being tired so I can't get far which doesn't do me much good.

No, there aren't any groups around here. There are childcare's at
certain gyms but I have a hard time trusting people with my kids, let alone strangers.
